Ny's Fire

Ny was on the "Rhyme 4 Respect" thingiee and on the bonus track by JME, I I’ve just started to like her and her what I used to refer as "whining". Guess I didn’t liked rng cuz it was always referred to "grime for the ladies" and I do not think that music has a gender so, I flushed the whole genre. Stupid of me looking with retrospectical glasses on things, cuz Fire is a good catchy tune. What can I say, even I make mistakes.

This was infact on the "True Tiger Volume 1" more than a year ago, and it’s the 1st single off Ny's forthcoming mixtape "Split Endz Volume Two" coming out on True Tiger Recordings. The Mixtape will drop sometime in March. Check out her first video. Fire - Ny feat. Purple:

The Real Hot Girl Heat

pic taken by alice hawkins for iD mag The Real Heat was supposed to perform in Stockholm tonight, unfortunately, it’s been moved to the 11th of March, but still at club Ace @ Mango. The Real Heat is an funny witty electro trio from London, Shaki, Zaza and Suki kinda feels like Fannypack meets Chicks On Speed and Miss Kitten with a dash of Kelis Milkshake.

Absolutely love this track below, that catchy line "Money don’t by my love are you stupid, money don’t by my love are you mad" is stuck in my head and can write a book on that subject the track is about, but I wont flaunt my previous Riki Lake life here so, visit their MySpace for yet another 3 downloads.

Download The Real Heat - Hot Girl

And since you’re free tonight (and are in Stockholm), drop by Debaser Medis and catch A-Trak and Kid Sister among others. I will not be there thou, since I’m still sick, so dance for me as well will ya?!

max max maxwell d New material from the Ruff Sqwad, featuring the former member of Pay as You Go Cartel, Maxwell D and production by Rapid. Maxwell D is also dropping his second chapter and follow up for his "Misunderstood" Mixtape any day now.

Marcie Phonix & Hypa Fenn Gets Ready For The Merkage

cop cop cop it This is the 3rd proof this week that grime is not dead, and that the scene not gone quiet. "Ready For The Merkage Volume 1 & 2" is released today by the dynamic duo of Marcie Phonix & Hypa Fenn from West London. This is so fuckin’ good! I know, I say that of most of things I post, but like I had said many times before, I do not sugar coat shit and don’t waste text on it, so this is _really_ good. It’s an late release, of course, what aren’t, but now it’s here and it was worth the wait.

The mixtape is an double pack in volume 1 and volume 2. It has everything, that massive Hold It Down track, haven’t got tiered of it YET, an cheezy refix of Have I Told U Lately, guests like Skepta, Scorcher, NASTY Jack, Doctor and so forth. Cop it! Also check ‘em out in Shystie’s "Dubplate Drama". Holla Swedish television, bring that tv-series to my telly now will ya?! Getting tiered of watching it on crappy rips on YouTube.

Fresh JME Vid + JME Remix

Well, finally JME got his first music vid out, and it’s surprisingly the remix of Serious that gets stuck on film. Guess it’s for all of those who don’t been down with him since first time he said he was serious. It’s a proper vid thou, and it has been running on MTV Base in the UK for a while now, dunno when, and if it’s ever gonna hit Sweden.

Gone tiered of Serious? Well, alright, JME has done a remix of one of the best tracks from Roll Deep’s latest release, enjoy:

The Devilman From AfterShock

development AfterShock has been one of my fave crews for a while now, ever since Terror Danjah’s Cock Back, Bruza’s "Doin’ Me" - Mixtape and 2 Nice’s massive track Gangsta No, which was sort of a themesong for me last spring. Right now their Zumpi Hunter track is spinning on radio shows like crazy, with that mad mad beat by Terror Danjah and everyone is rapping their version of it.

AfterShock is also one of the crews who actually make clothing apparel in ladies sizes and colours like pink or yellow and not just in boring black or white. Mad props for that. Wonder when the hell JME’s gonna do the pink shirt with the turquoise print, then I _PROMISE_ that I'm gonna get myself an Boy Better Know T-shirt, now they’re just available in black with red text and that colour combination was me like in 1998, I’m tiered of it, had thrown all of my red clothes away actually.

Anyhoe, it was an good decision of Devilman/D.E.Velopment to leave his Midlandz Mafia and team up with the Lordz of AfterShox. In wait for their album "Shock To The System", that will drop the 27th of March, still your hunger with Devilmans brand new fresh mixtape "Re-Development". I like that he sports the dog eared New Era I hyped early this winter. One other thing I like with the mc-s from this crew is their rap, it’s rough and raw but still quite clean. And smooth. Hard to xplain, listen for urself:

Do U All Have Ur 3D Glasses? - Free Mixtape from Kesh and Mr MarTelo

the real kesh, pic is taken from her myspace That 20 year old girl called Kesh is doin’ a lot. She's smokin’ hot, designing the next fashion for u and celebs like Mariah Carey and Lupe Fiasco, make the London crowd dance at free raves and now, releasing her very first mixtape togheter with Mr. MarTelo.

With that opening of Chacka Khan’s I Feel For You, it kinda reminds me of one I got from Jspr from Krazy Fiesta back in 2004, recorded on a real c-90 cassette tape. Jspr’s made me survive sort of (can’t explain the whole story but I was not feelin’ very well at that time) and this by Keshia is also proper survival material. That Sinden remix of Ghetto Bitches makes me lubricate.

Plan B Paints It Blacker

paint it blacker I’ve never had got a grip of Plan B. Luved when he teamed up with Wonder on the first "Run The Road" and dropped Cap Back. That track was in fact one of the best from that record in my humble opinion. Then in 2006 he released the mixtape "It’s Time For Plan B" & the album "Who Needs Actions When You Got Words". And all I could think was …boring. The mix by Hadouken! for No More Eatin’ is good thou.

Now he has dropped this mixtape called "Paint It Blacker", an addition for his past tour and I’m just confused. I liked the whole "Grindie"-thang Statik started early last year. It felt fresh a new. This is just weird. I’m aight with cheesy samples from 80’s tracks like Lady In Red and Died In Your Arms by now, live with Nirvana and Rollin’ Stones, nah. One good track comes out of it thou, the one with our Swedish genie José Gonzales. And ok, the Leonard Choen one, Susanne, but I guess Plan B likes to be kind of an oddball. I also luv the new Where I’m From track with JME & Skepta so I still can’t figure Plan B out and for being frank, it kinda bugs me.

Hadouken!

H! Speaking of Hadouken! For me Hadouken is most known as an game fighter character from "Street Fighter II", but then I heard their remix of Plan B.

Some would take this for grindie but doesn’t they remind you more of the digital hardcore that was hot in 1999? When the king was called Alec Empire? With bands like Lolita Storm (what’s up with them theese days, I still listen to "Girls Fucking Shit Up" from time to time) and Atari Teenage Riot?

This is maby just more refined, with what some call the vocal twin of JME, can understand why and yet not.

Like ‘em thou, whether they are digital hardcore anno double 0 seven or grindie or an hybrid of grime.

Grime In Mainstream Media

who the hell is whitey?! Grime’s been an hot topic in the Swedish mainstream media for the past days. Stefan Malmqvist at Svenska Dagbladet gave Shystie’s performance @ Debaser the 16th the lowest grade he could give in his review (read it here). Also writes that her sound is dated and her rap is loose. But then, he also writes about a big grime dude called WHITEY so I guess he doesn’t know JACK about what the hell he’s writing.

Then yesterday Max Peezay brought over his partner in crime Slix, to the absolutely dreadful morning show on Swedish MTV called "Mycket Mer Än Müsli". Slix was ignored for most of the time, but they did 3 studio performances togheter, was about to link ‘em but I can’t find ‘em on the MTV’s site just yet. And I can’t stand one of the hosts of the show, that guy called Per. Please get off the air.

Then Peezay once again stated the fact that Grime struggling hard right now, for survival. But is that really true? I think that the scene is more alive than ever with new releases the whole time. Just look at 2007: new album and mixtape by Kano, new album from Wiley, new album from Dizzee, mixtapes from Roll Deep, N.A.S.T.Y Cru, Virus Syndicate, NoLay, Devilman, album from Aftershock and the list just goes on. From tomorrow I will bring light on some of them new releases, just hold tight.

Shei Aktins Trunk Bangin'

trunk bangin' Shei Aktins from Houston, Texas has a surname referring to a diet method but I like her anyway. When she was 13 she survived an shooting attack and as she describes in the lyrics of I Got Shot- that became the catalyst for her transformation from a talented but undisciplined neophyte into the vocal tour-de-force Atkins represents today. Of course she found out that she survived the shooting cuz God had a greater purpose for her.

She and Lil’ Flip makes a perfect team in this snappy hit. It’s taken from her forthcoming release "Girl talk" on Soulmuzick who also released her previous records "Life In Stereo" in 2004 & "The Lita Mae Show" in 2006. "Girl Talk" is an album for the women and all problems we might facing in life. "We as women go through so much, I wanted to talk about It".

Why the hell does Lil’ Flip sport the "Storm"- New Era? Doesn't he know that it's for sad sk8er loosers who's into Good Charlotte and Green Day only? That cap ain't fly, it's foogly!

The VICE Party, Some Hatin' And 4 Downloads

old blue last in my <3 I’m so fuckin ill. Fever fever fever and I hallucinate. Cause and effect by the long and very cold almost 3 hour waiting to get into the Vice party Fridays. Yepp, was choosing the free thing over Shystie, cuz I don’t even have cash for food so, for free or nothing is my current philosophy. But I guess it’s just to face the facts, Vice parties in Sweden is not like them in London. I totally love the "Old Blue Last" in Shoreditch and peeps in London is not THAT much of Vice bitches like they are here in La Suede. Let me state the fact by the words from one stupid foogly Vice horny guy: "I collected a ticket then copied it in a colour copy 30 times". No wonder everyone couldn’t fit at the Clustret. When we finally got in, the guestlist was the biggest laugh in history, all the free booze tickets was out. And I felt like a lost sole in the Alps waiting for a dog with whiskey in his keg to varm me up, but nah so we went to the toilet, and then left again.

During the 5 minutes inside, all facts was clear, that this new horny Ed Banger/Electro/French hype thing was just a revival of last time Electro hype in 2001-2003. Old hits like Gravy Train!!!!’s Hella Nervous was played and hmmm, nah, I don’t buy it. Don’t cope with trends at all to be frank. Nor the Swedish hipsters. In fall 2005 they hyped Kano at their precious Vice party, was ALL into London and the grimething, now they just replaced it with a fresh record label and the revival of the electro clash, which they never came across back then cuz they was on another hype. Make statements like "No true hipster listens to Lady Sovereign, now that she’s on MTV" and I get so tired. Grow up, music is music, whether it’s on MTV or not, is it a good song is it a good song. I was like this when I was like …17? To be like this when you past the magic limit of 20 your just ridiculous.

Well, sorry for all hatin’ but everytime I’m in Stockholm I feel this, I get mad anxiety attacks and do feel like hell, almost everyone is stuck-up spoiled brats who just care for themselves (not everyone but like 90% of them who turn up for Vice parties). Thanks heaven for cities like Gothenburg and Malmö. When peeps are nyce and not have to prove themselves over and over again. Well, need to get some sleep and hopefully get rid of my fever, but first some downloads:

01. Crime Mob ft. Mac, Bre-Z, Rasheeda, Gangsta Boo & Miss B - Rock Your Hips Remix - (Download)
Can’t seem to figure out how someone already had reviewed Crime Mob’s "Hated On Mostly" for the free RODEO Magazine back in January here in Swe when it’s not released in the US for about the 27th of March. This is also a thing I hate, dudes who lie and shit, I guess he got his hands on "Mob Shit" by DJ Scream (everything he wrote was from that release) and hoped that the “dumb mass” who reads what he writes don’t figured it out. He did the same thing with Lady Sov’s record, all facts he wrote was WRONG. Anyhow, I like things he writes sometimes, he’s good, but shit like that bugs me. This is from DJ Screams latest release, enjoy. Rock your hips, wave and zipp.

02. Tinchy Stryder - Breakaway - (Download)
This is from the promo single from Tinchy. Posted it in a YouTube file a while ago, now listen to the real shit.

03. Ciara ft. Lil' Jon - That's Right - (Download)
Everytime I feel like this, ill, angry and tired of almost everything, I luv listen to Lil’ Jon and his aggravating beats and voice. This from Ciara’s latest release.

04. Krazy Fiesta - Never Zkared - (Download)
KF is finally starting to get some recognition here in Sweden, which they deserve and speaking of Lil’ Jon; Bitch are you scared?! Bonecrusher: I’M NEVER ZKARED!

myspace tom, everybodys friend This been featured on DJ Cameo’s "Pirate Sessions" on 1Xtra for the past weeks, and I can’t get it out of my head. Absolutely LUVing it! Can’t wait for the Sticky ft. Charlean Dance EP to drop. Know Your Condom

choose life, pic a colour It started with Roll Deep’s Bad Man, a collaboration to stop the gun crime thing. Now, it’s on the topic of STD’s. Young writers had the chance to write the lyrics for established stars like Estelle and Akala. It had to be about respecting yourself and sexual health awareness. All the tracks will be available as a free limited edition CD, including this bonus track produced by JME: (who already made my ab fave line on the term spunk: No one would have missed you, if your father had put you in a tissue):

Download JME ft. Biggz, Scorcher, Bearman, Sincere & Ny - Know Yourself

Ps. In England and US they have femidoms (female condoms who prevent pregnancy and STD’s), WHY do we not have ‘em in Sweden?! I wonder cuz the United Nation's HIV/AIDS prevention program recognizes the importance and effectiveness of the female condom and is working to make it available globally, but no signs of ‘em here at all.

Ebony Eyez In Ya Face

if i let u go down by the waiste, would u let me put my ass in ur face? Somehow I sort of missed out on Ebony Eyez hit In Ya Face back in 2005. Discovered it recently on an mix by DJ Tittsworth who had sampled her acapella. A shame, cuz this girl is pure fire. The first female rapper from St. Louis releasing a record, and she’s born in 1981 (same as me). I always get stressed about people who already succeed BIG who’s in the same age. Look at Beyonce, J.T. X-tina Aguliera, Britney and all of them, all been doin their shit since 1981. What have I accomplished?! Been hated, a lot (even got my own hate-tune) and so fort, but if beef made money, I’ve been rich by now, and I’m most certainly NOT.

Back to Ebony, she released her debut album "7 day Cycle" in 2005, a mixtape called "Fuck How many Mics I Get" in 2006 and 2007 is an open goal. I luv her female perspective on things, I like to be in control of things, she explains. I don’t like lame dudes coming up with no personality and no persona about himself trying to holler. So I have to tell those types of dudes to move with their lame ass. I like a strong, confident man, someone that’s sure about himself. If you’re not sure about yourself, you cant really go nowhere in life. You’re going always be a follower, not a leader. I’m trying to stand on my own two feet, I’m raw, real and ready to show what I’ve got. I’m trying to make a statement. Consider it done.

Bashy - That Boy Lollipop

ooooooooiiiiie When Ashley Thomas was 19 he dropped his "Ur Mum vol. 1"-mixtape. The year was 2005 and since then he's been known as Bashy, the boy matching his tracktop with the colour of his lolly. Known for his "Oiiiie", B-bling in the ear, reppin the ends of Northweesy and merking Wiley. I listened to "Ur Mum" like a thousand times. We Got Links is one of the biggest tracks ever made if u ask me. Then in 2006 Bashy went silent. The reason? Life in general. Personal stuff, family stuff. But now, it's 2007 and Bashy's back. With the "Chupa Chups Mixtape Assorted Flavours", every mixtape comes with a free Chupa Chups-lolly. A struck of Genius. I like peeps who bring something new to the scene with their personality and innovation. Jme does it in his way, Bashy in another.

"The Chupa Chups" is hosted by Masterstepz and it's a quite funny story. It's crazy, playful and personal. It's much relationship and love talk, Bashy sort of take to role as Samantha in SATC. No fuzz, he set the facts straight. In four relationship themed tracks. One of them, the Refuse To Love contains an odd sampling of Lovefool by the Swedish popband The Cardigan's. And that's not the only Swedish music reference. In the Interlude for the totally crazy track London Underground u get vibes from Broder Daniel's hit Underground, most known for being the title track in Lukas Moodysson's movie "Fucking Åmål". Hilarious. Esp for me, who once upon a time was a heavy BD fan with glitter and silver stars under my eyes. Other samples u can recognise is from The Streets in My Nightmare, Basement Jaxx's in Where's Ur Head At, Kris Menace, Daft Punk and probably many more.

The same day when I got this in my mail on Monday the 29th, some really bad things happened that screwed up my life forever, can't tell u what, but let me just say that it's pretty pretty fucked up. Therefor I sort of found comfort in Never See Me Fall, a track that I use to hate before when I listened to it on Bashy's MySpace. But know I (finally) understand it's greatness. Production by Low Deep, a female vocalist and Bashy. It's kind of my new We Got Links. Big Big Big. Other personal faves on this: Black Boys Ft. Loick, the funny Slag-track and the second Freestyle.

This will sound like a swag commercial, but as u know, I don't write about shit, so get this mixtape and if u are a booking agent/club organizer in Sweden, please book him.

The Battle of Addis Black Widow

An in a cake dats what they all grab So pigeon if u want it real bad When I was like 6-10 years, I really loved the Eurovision Song Contest. Me and my little sisters used to record the finale on our WHS and watch it over and over again. In school we used to perform different numbers and stuff like that. Once me and my best friend at that time, Evelina, were the Swedish band Lili and Sussi, performed their hit "Oh Mama!", had really bad 80's style clothing, and did cartwheels our way to the stage and picked up the mics in the cartwheel. We felt like stars. Anyhoe, tonight's the first part of the competition here I Sweden. I have since a long time stopped watching this what I nowadays refer to as shit on telly. Don't cope with the gheyness, the chocks, all the bloody fuss about who shows tits and who's not and stuff like that. In fact this is the Super Bowl Weekend in the states, most likely another titty chock is cuming right at me anyhow, but I'll have to watch to ESC tonight, and for one reason only, Addis Black Widow.

I've totally loved ABW since their debut album "The Battle of Adwa" dropped in 1996. The dykeish video for Innocent was on MTV's top 5 most viewed and DBW made up story after story where they came from and was just corny and funny. Now we know the truth, that Armias Mamo a.k.a Pigeon was send from Ethiopia to Oakland by his mother, were he and his brother Addis started to do music. Dianne Wiston a.k.a Cream was moving to Oakland from Iran and teamed up with the 'em Pigeon made his first guitar of a coke can, then age of 15 Addis suddenly died by an accident, the group got their first contract a week afterwards and named their group Addis Black Widow. The rest is history.

And like I said, I totally totally luv 'em. Cream is not about to attend with the group tonight performing Clubbin cuz of sume bad family troubles, and I don't think they manage this without her. Two new females added to the group but they're not Cream. Cream is a girl who has a special treat that she bounces her tits not moving any other part of her body.

Just look at her and u know what I mean:

Then think a kool kuduro mix on this:

Breath of Fresh Ears

lend me ur ears Well, FINALLY it's released! The launch party for Ears mixtape "Breath of Fresh Ears" was like the 14th of April last year. Dunno why it took this time to drop but I guess it had sume good reason.

Five years ago, Kano and Jammer were playing at a kid's birthday party in East London. When Ears, then aged 14, grabbed the mic from Kano, started spitting backwards and breaking down all his phrases grammatically over the beat, the crowd went nuts and jelly and ice cream went everywhere.

"Breath of Fresh Ears" is hosted by Logan Sama and will in fact be one of the beat releases this year I think. 21 tracks long, some reruns from the "Straight Necklin'" record and stuff like that, BUT even if the tracks are quite old, it dosen't matter, this IS big. Ears prove that he is one of the biggest names in the grimegame, and have been ever since he dropped happy Days on the first "Run the Road" and his Fine, Fine was on every mixtape some years ago. I can't wait for something fresh.

My faves from this: Dem Boy Der with Jammer, Rage and Tempa T, Most of You Guys ft. Hoodlum & Flamin', Lend Me Your Ears which is produced by Johan of Radioclit who also produced one of the best tracks from last year, the Emergency on Max Peezay's "Discokommitén". A track who also features Ears. Another good production is made by Lewi White on It's Not A Game. Absolutely luving it.
