_090331: UGK 4 Life |
|
UGK's final studio album "UGK 4 Life" is out today people, go buy it! Here’s the official video for Da Game Been Good To Me:
One of the more catchier (except for Hard As Hell with Akon of course) and best tracks of the album (from what I've heard so far) is no doubt this with E-40, B-Legit, 8 Ball and MJG and just as I expected, Lil’ Boosie is good as usual on Harry Asshole. |

_090330: I Love Lucy Love |
|
I know, I knooow, I’m pretty bad writing about music from Sweden, not to mention the other Scandinavian countries, to be perfectly honest, I suck in that department. But well, I’m gonna start to make amends for that, here and now.
Love videos like this, with some thought and coordination behind it, not just a green screen, champers and fugly dudes and doable girls pulling some dance moves and that’s it. It’s simple but simple stylish. Proper work! |

_090330: Hey Girl! |
|
Still haven’t had the time to listen to Keri Hilson’s freshly released album "In a Perfect World...", but I doubt it’s bad since every song I’ve heard so far is really easy listening and catchy as hell. Knock You Down has really grown on me:
However, it’s a pity that this track ft. T-Pain and Lil’ Jon isn’t on the album, it’s some straight fire, can't think of a better track to kick off the new week with! |

I’m still pretty bummed out that the Head Bitches in Charge-project with Remy and Jacki-O never happened for Shawnna, but on the other hand, this is more promising on a long term perspective. And yeah Luda, get this, Shawnna is the _only_ DTP-member worth keeping, get rid of the rest, Shawnna makes the magic happen, she _is_ that pussy poppin’ on a headstand in persona. |

_090327: More KanYe Shit |

Yes, got two KanYe-related goodies this Friday morning. Seriously, I’m so glad that I have overcome my fear of mr. West, despite his many questionable sayings, hairstyles and POF, the man is a genius, period. |

Remember this? To be honest, I haven’t listened to this track for a few months but damn, it’s still rather good! This brand new, second version of the official video looks hella better than first one (if ur gonna sleaze it up with girls in animal prints and opening legs like in the previous one, do it like Princess Superstar’s Licky, that the _good_ way to sleaze according to my book).
Learnt from the KidBass-blog that Kano has jumped on the Head, Shoulders, Knees N Toes-craze as well with his Gucci Pose, the track sounds okay, not the best take on it, that battle stands between the mega freestyle remix with the K.I.G Family, Kardinal Offishal, Wale and Tinie Tempah from DJ Semtex Show or Doneao’s mix, I can’t decide. Love the minimal afro-tribal one as well.

_090322: That Good G.O.O.D |
|
The G.O.O.D-Music showcase (ft. KanYe, KiD CuDi, Big Sean, GLC, Consequence, Really Doe, Tony Williams, Mr. Hudson and special guests Common and Erykah Badu) at SXSW took place when I had my best good night sleep in months. Here I was, thinking that I was so over and had outgrown the whole festival game once and for all but after seeing it all I sort of wish that I was there.
Cudder is also featured on this alternate version of Kevin Rudolf’s (not so good) Welcome to the World that originally had Rick Ross and he more or less takes both good old Ricky's and Kevin's sorry asses to school. |

It’s Friday the 13th, again... Last Friday I spoke about the Act Yo Age Lucky 13 to be released today, but as u know, much can happen in a week and the release has now been pushed because of the massive demand for the tracks which has big support from the Bloody Beetroots, Sinden, Bag Raiders and Mixhell amongst others. |

_090312: Queen Tigrona |
|
Aqui Para Voces, one of the many many favorites from Buraka Som Sistema’s "Black Diamond" was just made into this video. If u weren’t completely in love with featuring guest Deize Tigrona, a Brazilian funk carioca singer, before, get ready to be swept off ur feet:
Speaking of Deize for that matter, remember this? Seriously 2006 was such a good music year!
It’s also her track Injeção that was used as the basis for the M.I.A.’s Bucky Done Gun. Which also is one third of this Death to the Throne Remix that some has labeled as a new track. It’s not new, it’s just as I said, Bucky infused with Pull Up the People and Jimmy into a great big mishmash of pleasure for the ears.

However, the Polow Da Don and Danja-produced Get Your Money Up ft. Keyshia Cole and Trina is my fave so far, somehow it captures the essence of spring for me.

Pretty girls overload! First a music video for SuperBoo by KiD CuDi directed by Tishaun Dawson for BattalionArmour.com featuring The Beautiful Warriors = Nazanin, Jessie, Marly, Kaila, Kacie and Jeanette: Not that special really other than good looking women doing some serious catalogue posing for 3:11, love the track thou. Also abslutley loving this remix of Chip tha Ripper and Cudder's Ask About Me from the "Stoner Charm Mixtape". |

Remember when Ed Banger ruled the blogsphere with all them boring Justice-leaks and the endless copycatting of SoMe’s artwork? Well, that day is long gone by bow and one of the up and coming competitors for the throne must be the Sweat It Out-label. Seriously, such good artists and mind-blowing killer artwork, just the brilliant idea of giving each artist one special shoe, gah I’m so annoyed that it is not who has done all them amazing covers. |

_090304: Every Prom Queen |
|
The video for Lil’ Wayne’s Prom Queen is like a low budget high school movie. Story, plot and everything. Follows the line perfectly, even the mandatory feature of some boring band:
The boring band in this is nu metal hell Korn. I’m nearly out of words. U can’t feature Korn Weezy, u simply can’t. So well, my hopes for "Rebirth" (out the 19th of May) is not that big, I simply can’t cope with this rock/rap-shit, don’t think I will get used to it either, like I did with the auto-tune-effect and KanYe. |

_090302: Woman Dumb Like Hyphy |
|
Oh my, what a day. First we had one of the most obnoxious customers ever in the store. Some women with a high squeaky voice, not squeaky sexy/cute, nah just a high pitch that can cut through glass-squeaky. I may be high maintenance sometimes but in comparison to this woman I’m a real saint. We think she must be ill or something, her behaviour is so out of place, like ur not in Beverley Hills dear, chillax. She also graced me with flashing herself and her fugly mismatching lingerie in the dressing room when she demanded that I should zip her up, not once, not twice, but three times. |

_090302: A GOOD Music Story |
|
I’m not gonna complain about KanYe’s ego from when he guested on VH1's Storytellers (where he performed some of his new material as well as spoke about some of the motivations that led to his creations) or his KanYe-isms such as "My greatest pain in life is that I will never see me perform", oh no. I’m just gonna split some hairs about what the heck is up with the hair due?
KanYe’s fave song off CuDi’s upcoming album is apparently a track that will be the third single called Mr. Solo Dolo, it was revealed when CuDi performed an acapella version (the original is produced by Dot Da Genius who also did Day N’ Nite) of the track in New Haven, Connecticut on Fridays. Where he also performed the upcoming second single Sky Might Fall (which also can be heard in the "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" trailers) produced by... yeah KanYe.

_090301: Ill Na Na Nana Na Na |
|
When I was 14 (the golden year of 1995) Robyn had her major break (in Sweden) with Do You Really Want Me (the single was not released in the UK or the U.S. until 1998), a track that was built on an old nursery rhyme from 1677. Yeah, she was a trendsetter even in the early stages of her career and the biggest hype was to cut a Robyn-hair due and I did, first and last time my hair has been short, I looked like hell. Seriously, gah so damn awful.
"Pray IV Reign" will be out the 24th. More Dipset, someone who seems to have lost it completely is Cam’ron. Just his cover of True Magazine... Once upon a time he was hot, on that cover he looks like average borderline boring. I’m not that thrilled about his new single either:
I miss the old fully colour coordinated Cam. I really do. Is it green this year? I dunno, what I do know is that his sixth studio album "Crime Pays" is set to be released May 5th and that Cookies and Apple Juice is WAY better than the track above.

_090301: A Human Side Ponytail |
|
Someone told me that Lady Sovereign’s upcoming single So Human was a murder on The Cure’s Close to Me, the person was really upset of the sampling but after a few listens I beg to differ. Then I never been a fan of Robert Smith or the Cure for that matter, but I actually think its rather cute.
The So Human-single will drop the 30th of this month (in the UK, it’s already out in the US) and I’m really looking forward to April and the release of Jigsaw (7th (US) / 13th (UK)). I’m just worried about the mixing of genres, hence the album title, apparently the genres should be like different jigsaw pieces all melting into one big midget-puzzle. But well, after that N.A.S.A.-project smorgasbord of genres, I guess there’s no need for worrying? A positive surprise is also that Sovie will be singing on the album, she told The Quietus: |

Well, it’s a new month and I’m gonna do my best to plan my time better and fill First Up! with interesting things. |
