_090331: UGK 4 Life

UGK's final studio album "UGK 4 Life" is out today people, go buy it! Here’s the official video for Da Game Been Good To Me:

One of the more catchier (except for Hard As Hell with Akon of course) and best tracks of the album (from what I've heard so far) is no doubt this with E-40, B-Legit, 8 Ball and MJG and just as I expected, Lil’ Boosie is good as usual on Harry Asshole.

R.I.P. Pimp C. UGK 4 Life.

_090330: I Love Lucy Love

I know, I knooow, I’m pretty bad writing about music from Sweden, not to mention the other Scandinavian countries, to be perfectly honest, I suck in that department. But well, I’m gonna start to make amends for that, here and now.

Remember Lucy Love? No, still not speaking about the Czech pornstar, Lucy Love the MC from Denmark who made the grime banger No V.I.P.. Whether u do remember or not, her debut album "Superbillion" was released last month (buy it over here) and if u love artists like Lady Sovereign and GoldieLocks, then Lucy definitely is ur girl.

It’s so nyce to have someone like Lucy Love in the game, esp since Lady Sovereign keeps knocking at that mainstream door. Some tracks on "Superbillion" like the first single Daddy Was A DJ (a true story and cute tribute to her daddy, Ronnie Bass aka Funky Ronnie, who was a DJ back in the day) are more popish/electronic than 100% pure grime but it doesn’t matter, Lucy still spits her fire and it looks awesome as well:

Love videos like this, with some thought and coordination behind it, not just a green screen, champers and fugly dudes and doable girls pulling some dance moves and that’s it. It’s simple but simple stylish. Proper work!

My fave tracks of the album, which is good all the way through, is L.U.C.Y.L.O.V.E, March (absolutely love the productions from Yo Akim), Alchemist and of course No V.I.P.. To wrap it up,I LOVE Lucy and so will u.

_090330: Hey Girl!

Still haven’t had the time to listen to Keri Hilson’s freshly released album "In a Perfect World...", but I doubt it’s bad since every song I’ve heard so far is really easy listening and catchy as hell. Knock You Down has really grown on me:

However, it’s a pity that this track ft. T-Pain and Lil’ Jon isn’t on the album, it’s some straight fire, can't think of a better track to kick off the new week with!

.mp3: Keri Hilson ft. T-Pain and Lil' Jon - Hey Girl (YSI) // (zShare)

_090329: Smells Like Dizzee

Can’t make this post hella long cause I’m doing my nails at the same time, but remember yesterday when I wrote that Dizzee could jump on _anything_ and still sound like his old grimey self? Well, haha here’s more proof, called Smells Like Dizzee In Rage from some limited edition vinyl that the NY-label Wax’em Records put out in their The Trust us! -"Spezialversion"-series.

I’m not sure if I like it, it’s more interesting than good to me. Nirvana never ruled my world, even if I cried when Kurt took his life, yeah I did, silly fangirl. Haha, nah, but I cried like the 13 year old I was for Courtney’s sake. I was way into Courtney at that time. Well back to the nails...

.mp3: Dizzee Rascal - Smells Like Dizzee In Rage (YSI) // (zShare)

_090328: New Dizzee BONKERS

Woop woop! It’s now more than a year since Dizzee’s last single Dance Wiv’ Me premiered on radio and now it’s time again as both Zane Lowe and Mista Jam premiered the new single Bonkers ft. Armand Van Helden Thursdays.

Dizzee’s still on the dance-orientated side of things and he pulls it off rather good, Dizzee on dance still sounds like good old Dizzee Dizz unlike fellow grime artists jumping on the craze. Never been a bigger fan of Armand Van Helden, think the only track I ever liked of his is Touch Your Toes from "Ghettoblaster" but Bonkers is quite bonkers actually. I would be very surprised if this didn’t follow up the success with Dance Wiv’ Me and made it number 1 in the charts.

Update: Better quality, 320, safe for this Luke: (zShare)

_090328: The Perfect DNA-Ladder

Hands down, without a doubt, the most interesting news in the world of music the past 14 days must be the one that Ludacris and Shawnna are planning a collaboration album, scheduled for release this summer. The album is called "Battle of the Sexes" and the concept is, yeah, the everlasting battle between them xx- and xy-chromosomes. The first single is out now called Everybody Drunk as Fuck and the next one after that will be a track called My Chick Bad.

The battle between Luda’s xy’s and Shawnna’s xx’s is like the perfect DNA-ladder to me. Not feeling it? Let me refresh ur memory, from 2003 and Luda's "Chicken and Beer", the best Luda track ever, mostly thanks to Shawnna and some xx’s:

I’m still pretty bummed out that the Head Bitches in Charge-project with Remy and Jacki-O never happened for Shawnna, but on the other hand, this is more promising on a long term perspective. And yeah Luda, get this, Shawnna is the _only_ DTP-member worth keeping, get rid of the rest, Shawnna makes the magic happen, she _is_ that pussy poppin’ on a headstand in persona.

Speaking of Everybody Drunk as Fuck for that matter, here’s Emynd’s awesome remix of the Tittsworth ft. the Federation-track with almost same title and luckily for me he cut out the nasty vomiting part at the end.

_090327: More KanYe Shit

Yes, got two KanYe-related goodies this Friday morning. Seriously, I’m so glad that I have overcome my fear of mr. West, despite his many questionable sayings, hairstyles and POF, the man is a genius, period.

First, KanYe has jumped on another of DJ Class’ Remix of I’m the Shit. LOVE IT. Can’t wait for the "Alameda and Coldspring" to drop.

Second, the official video for N.A.S.A.’s Gifted directed by 3 Legged Legs is here and it looks proper:

.mp3: DJ Class ft. KanYe West - I'm the Shit (Remix) (YSI) // (zShare)

_090327: Me Zumbi

Let's kick off the weekend with a bang, shall we? Before today I was really annoyed that my .mp3-player lacked a display but today I found out what’s good about it. Randomness. Not knowing, the lack of control and being totally fine with it. Everythings feels like a Kinder Egg surprise more or less, haha. Like this track below, the perfect example.

I sat on the tram home from what have been the best workweek of all time and this reached my ears. Ears that have been skipping back and forth between BlaqStarr’s Bang Hard and GLC’s Flight School the past days. I was completely blown away, thought to myself that: "Shit who is this girl?! I think I’m in love, I wanna set the old Sulamith Firestone-theories in motion with her".

Then I came home, plugged the player into my lappie and had the biggest laugh, seriously, _that_ girl is Andy Milokanis?! One of the most annoying persons ever? Are u kidding me?

Diplo and Switch’s next big project Major Lazer is gonna be huge and I'm loving this track, Andy's rhymes, hahaha, u gotta love Andy even if he is quite repulsing to the eye. Major Lazer’s debut album; "Guns Don’t Kill People-Lazers Do" drops June 16th on Downtown Records. Guests on the album include M.I.A. and Santogold. No Kinder Egg surprises there but does it really matter? No.

.mp3: Major Lazer ft. Andy Milokanis - Zumbi (YSI) // (zShare)

_090323: Bass Head

Remember this? To be honest, I haven’t listened to this track for a few months but damn, it’s still rather good! This brand new, second version of the official video looks hella better than first one (if ur gonna sleaze it up with girls in animal prints and opening legs like in the previous one, do it like Princess Superstar’s Licky, that the _good_ way to sleaze according to my book).

Learnt from the KidBass-blog that Kano has jumped on the Head, Shoulders, Knees N Toes-craze as well with his Gucci Pose, the track sounds okay, not the best take on it, that battle stands between the mega freestyle remix with the K.I.G Family, Kardinal Offishal, Wale and Tinie Tempah from DJ Semtex Show or Doneao’s mix, I can’t decide. Love the minimal afro-tribal one as well.

.mp3: K.I.G. Family ft. Kardinal Offishal, Wale and Tinie Tempah - Head, Shoulders, Knees N Toes (Mega Freestyle Mix) (YSI) // (zShare)

_090323: Go Hard Bizz

I still got some tracks from More Fire Crew’s "CV" on my .mp3-player, that album was soo---oooh damn good. Still the Same with Dizzee and the amazing and clever sample of my fave movie of all time "Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!" for example, grime as it’s best. But Bizzle post More Fire... Can’t remember anything he has done that left a mark in my brain actually, other than the Breast-video (of course, not even ECT would remove that).

Bizzle’s last album "Back to Bizznizz" had some good tracks (like You'll Get Wrapped) but was way too uneven as an album over all. Now, as the comeback single for his upcoming 3rd solo album (will be out sometime in May/June) he decides to touch up DJ Khaled's old Go Hard and feature Donaeo on it. I’m a bit puzzled over here. Sounds more like a mixtape-track to me than the first single from an album.

However, received this refix from DJay 360 and liked it, it’s smoother and Bizzle’s (wack) rap doesn’t shine through that much.

.mp3: Lethal Bizzle ft. Donaeo and KanYe West - Go Hard (DJay 360 Refix) (YSI) // (zShare)

_090322: That Good G.O.O.D

The G.O.O.D-Music showcase (ft. KanYe, KiD CuDi, Big Sean, GLC, Consequence, Really Doe, Tony Williams, Mr. Hudson and special guests Common and Erykah Badu) at SXSW took place when I had my best good night sleep in months. Here I was, thinking that I was so over and had outgrown the whole festival game once and for all but after seeing it all I sort of wish that I was there.

Since The FADER keep the whole performance in their super-private-haxx0r-safed KyteTV-player with no embedding available, here are some of the best parts instead, such as KanYe and CuDi on Welcome to Heartbreak with some charming cracking of KanYe’s voice, Sky Might Fall and Buggin’ Out with Cons, Cudder performing the Crookers remix of Day N’ Nite (I’m in LOVE with the female dancer on stage) and of course KanYe’s absolutely horrible POF (that biker jeans-waistcoat...):

Cudder is also featured on this alternate version of Kevin Rudolf’s (not so good) Welcome to the World that originally had Rick Ross and he more or less takes both good old Ricky's and Kevin's sorry asses to school.

Ending this post with one last thing concerning the good G.O.O.D, the final, official version of GLC’s Flight School is here, the past weeks the remixes with people jumping on the plane has been flying in, most of them have crashed, badly, but this is the real deal. Arrowstar has done the amazing production, absolutely loving it.

_090321: Dubs Up - Hoes Down

I know, Snoop Dogg x DubStep sounds like the biggest joke ever. But it’s true and it’s actually a rather good combination. Who would have known?

In Snoop Dogg Millionaire Snoop decides to gain some fame from Slumdog Millionaire and goes hard over Chase and Status’ Eastern Jam produced by Wild Animals and Chase and Status and it also features Tanvi Shah and the Hustle Boyz on the chorus. Snoop’s upcoming 10th studio album called "Malice in Wonderland" is slated for release sometime this year.

.mp3: Snoop Dogg ft. Tanvi Shah - Snoop Dogg Millionaire (YSI) // (zShare)

_090321: Wale Chillin' with GaGa

Remember the unfinished demo version that leaked of Wale’s Chillin’? Here’s the finished version, perfect for a Saturday, featuring no one other than our guilty pleasure number one; Lady GaGa. And to be perfectly honest, can’t think of a better feature other than just Lady GaGa.

She and Rosemary Clooney’s Mambo Italiano are the main reasons I show up at work 07:50 every morning as the help me coping with commute routs and nasty people at crowded buses stinking of the smell of sore throats and bad breathe.

However, now the production by Cool and Dre rubs me the wrong way with the Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye) Steam–sample, it sort of is overbearing now but GaGa weights it up on the positive side.

Well, Wale tweeted some days ago that his album is titled "Attention: Deficit", would be released in the summer. He also announced that his new mixtape: "Back to the Feature" will be released April 29th.

He also tweeted that he and CuDi are cool (u know the whole CuDi retiring after the release of his first album after Wale made some comments about him in Joe Budden's video log-story that CuDi spoke about in hos blog in just BIG LETTERS?) and CuDi himself took it back the day before yesterday as he confirmed that he was not going to retire on stage at Austin, TX's SXSW 2009 festival. CuDi seems so erratic it’s ridiculous sometimes, however, still got mad love for Cudder. Can’t say the same about that Switching Lanes-song thou, it’s almost on the verge to be boring ass head nod-hiphop.

.mp3: Wale ft. Lady GaGa - Chillin' (YSI) // (zShare)

_090319: Kano ft. Lazee & Tensta

What else can I say other than: finally! It’s here, the remix of Kano’s Hustler with Lazee and Adam Tensta, many have asked me for this and now the wait is over all thanx to the My Best Friend Is My Grind-blog, not a freaking day too soon. Sweden, stand up TALL!

Btw, while u visiting the MBFIMG-blog, click on another of the First Up!-faves: 'Fiend' among the tags in the tag-cloud and download everything he has made the past months, esp. the remix of Medina’s Så gör dom det, absolutely mental and pure love.

_090319: Help Me MOVE

So sorry for the silence this week peeps, have experienced some rocky days and this site has been the last thing on my mind, but well, now I can use this post to ask for some help from my beloved readers.

The thing is, Sundays I more or less decided that I’m moving back north to Stockholm by fall, but Mondays the girl I’m subletting from, the most vacillating girl I ever met (been down this road so many times the year I’ve been living over here, but now she says she’s 100% sure of what she wants) decided that she’s gonna move back to Gothenburg the last of May so well, my plans are kinda shattered. Not that is the end of the world but when one thing falls the rest tends to fall as well and so they did.

As u all figured out, the 1st of June I need some place to live. Gothenburg or Stockholm really doesn’t matter. I’m not that picky, I rather live in the outskirts than in the very Centrum core, roomy, nyce and cheap wins over scruffy, crowded and expensive. Got some requests thou; I wanna live by myself (as in _alone_), rent for at least 6 months (a year or longer is preferred) and rather live without vermin like silverfishes and such. I always pay the rent the 25th, I’m a neat freak, anal retentive and responsible. The absolute maximum rent per month based on my current economy is like 4500:- SEK.

SO PLEASE IF U KNOW A N Y T H I N G LET ME KNOW! Spend the whole night yesterday searching and seriously, I felt like dying at 5 am. Found absolutely nothing.

Can’t think of a track more suiting for this post than the latest heat from DJ Class, the remix of Mims' Move, the first single from his upcoming album "Guilt", this remix is like 100 times better than the remix with Yung Berg and the original.

.mp3: Mims - Move (If You Wanna) (DJ Class Remix) (YSI) // (zShare)

_090315: UGK Still on tha Grind

Bun B told MTV: "This album is not about who I wanna work with and what kind of beats I wanna do, this album is about what the people wanna hear, and that's Bun and Pimp. And I wanna try to give that to them in the most purest sense" about the upcoming last studio album of the UGK titled "4 Life" that will be released in a couple of weeks, the 31st of March.

I’m really looking forward to hear tracks like Harry Asshole ft. Lil’ Boosie and Webbie and Used To Be ft. B-Legit, E-40 and 8Ball and MJG from reading the official tracklist Amazon provdes. This track however ft. Raheem DeVaughn is probably not the best of the bunch but somehow I still like it.

.mp3: UGK ft. Raheem DeVaughn - Still on tha Grind (YSI) // (zShare)

_090314: BANG BANG BANG!

Afrikan Boy brought this to my attention via his blog, the magic trinity: Rye Rye, M.I.A. and BlaqStarr come together yet again for Rye Rye’s new banging track called BANG. Produced by BlaqStarr and M.I.A. on featuring vocals and BANG! Right in the gut! The Saturday evening is saved!

Speaking of Ryeisha for that matter, never was a fan of the rapcalsh-thing even if LVL are on top of their game but this remix that came together when Rye Rue was in Sweden for Adrian Lux’s Strawberry is pretty good, the main reason is of course: Rye Rye, coz the last Swedish verse is actually pretty embarrassing.

_090313: Bill Cosby's Sweater

It’s Friday the 13th, again... Last Friday I spoke about the Act Yo Age Lucky 13 to be released today, but as u know, much can happen in a week and the release has now been pushed because of the massive demand for the tracks which has big support from the Bloody Beetroots, Sinden, Bag Raiders and Mixhell amongst others.

As u already know, The Sweat It Out-label are on top of the sneaker-game via their amazing art, now they moving ahead to the sweater game. Hopefully the Sweat It Out-tees will NOT look like the fugly Bill Cosby-sweater, u know lumpy with leather-patches. Or worse, pleather-patches... Yuck. But I doubt it.

However, tees are in the making so for now Oh Snap's "Bill Cosby" EP is HERE. Featuring 2 bumpin’ originals (Bill Cosby Sweater and Everyone's a DJ), a wobbly Hostage mix and a partymore Kazey and Bulldog mix of said sweater-song and for Everyone's a DJ a bass bin destroying Edu K mix, Mujava rounds out this package with his township funk. The full EP can be found at BeatPort over here.

_090312: Oxytocin Reload Deluxe

I really miss having a bathtub, a long hot bubble bath is like the best stress relief ever but my flat in Gothenburg isn’t graced with that kinda luxury so I have had to rely on my good old Super-Nintendo for that. Until know that is. My telly rejects it! Really annoying cause I have been in a real pissy mood the whole day and need to do some Street-Fighter II-rounds. On top of that my sister has nicked my NES...

But then I saw this awesome 8-bit hiphop-medley over at shotthen.com and all of a sudden things feels so much better. Don’t know who has done it actually, but it’s a masterpiece for sure, just look at the featured tracks:

Jay-Z - Dirt Off Your Shoulders
T.I - What You Know
Chamillionaire - Ridin’
Ludacris - What’s Ya Fantasy
Bonecrusher - Neva Scared
Kanye - Overnight Celebrity
Ludacris - Move Bitch
Lil’ Jon - Get Low
Kanye - Gold Digger

Neva Scared and Get Low in 8-bit, I mean come on what more do ya need for that oxytocin to kick in?

Update: Thanx to the great ZZ Bottum I have leared that it's done by the amazing Tugboat.

_090312: Queen Tigrona

Aqui Para Voces, one of the many many favorites from Buraka Som Sistema’s "Black Diamond" was just made into this video. If u weren’t completely in love with featuring guest Deize Tigrona, a Brazilian funk carioca singer, before, get ready to be swept off ur feet:

Speaking of Deize for that matter, remember this? Seriously 2006 was such a good music year!

It’s also her track Injeção that was used as the basis for the M.I.A.’s Bucky Done Gun. Which also is one third of this Death to the Throne Remix that some has labeled as a new track. It’s not new, it’s just as I said, Bucky infused with Pull Up the People and Jimmy into a great big mishmash of pleasure for the ears.

_090311: Knock U Down and Up

Keri Hilson’s long awaited debut album "In a Perfect World" is about to be released in a couple of weeks, finally, the 24th of Mrach to be exact and it’s gonna be HUGE. Yesterday Keri announced that her next single (the 4th from the album) is gonna be Knock You Down ft. KanYe and Ne-Yo. Good old KanYe leaked the track on his blog the 4th and it’s pretty nyce.

Also peep KanYe co-starring in the video for Make Love:

However, the Polow Da Don and Danja-produced Get Your Money Up ft. Keyshia Cole and Trina is my fave so far, somehow it captures the essence of spring for me.

_090311: Pretty Girls Overload!

Pretty girls overload! First a music video for SuperBoo by KiD CuDi directed by Tishaun Dawson for BattalionArmour.com featuring The Beautiful Warriors = Nazanin, Jessie, Marly, Kaila, Kacie and Jeanette:

Not that special really other than good looking women doing some serious catalogue posing for 3:11, love the track thou. Also abslutley loving this remix of Chip tha Ripper and Cudder's Ask About Me from the "Stoner Charm Mixtape".

Second, South Korean popish RnB singer Se7en’s first single (from his upcoming American album debut) called Girls, a catchy little piece produced by Darkchild. Best part of the video according to me is of course the feature from Lil’ Kim:

.mp3: KiD CuDi - Ask About Me (Remix) (YSI) // (zShare)

_090310: Dutty Go Round

Woop woop! It’s time again for one of First Up!’s favorites the Dutty Artz Camp to unleash something new and deliciously good. This time around it’s Matt Shadetek’s 140 BPM bassline remix of Brooklyn based Jahdan Blakkamoore’s industry crushing Go Round Payola. ingle on vinyl this April in collaboration with Liondub International. Jahdan’s "We Are Raiders" EP is out now on CD/12"/digital. And if u don’t already know, JD has worked with dudes like Premiere and the Boot Camp Clik in the past- and is now gracing the finest in heavy electronic rhythms. And yeah, I’m loving this remix.

Also peep this "Full Hundred" mix on XLR8R Podcast.

Finally, for all u DIY motherfuckers the Dutty Artz also released the acapella from Jahdan's herb anthem Nice Green 139 BPM - Producers, DJs, remixers, just go dumb!

_090310: Dat Pussy (Real Good)

Back in 2004 when Jacki-O released her debut album "Poe Little Rich Girl" through TVT I could relate to _every_ single track. My life was such a big drama, I had a man, I cheated on him with a mistress, school burned me out, it was all just a big hot mess. Now, when her sophomore album "Lil' Red Riding Hood" is released physically today I find my life to be in a completely different place, no messy relations, no draining drama, but Jacki-O still raps about the same topics. Men, cheating, drama and jealous girls.

To be frank, I hate sophomore albums, so many expectations and they are most likely shattered. I’ve been longing for this follow up, released on Jacki-O’s own label JackMove Entertainment in conjunction with Gracie Productions and EMI, since like what feels forever (can’t even remember the mixtape she did between) but I’m sorry to say, there is no Pussy (Real Good), no Sugar Walls and no Champion on "Lil' Red Riding Hood". Over all it’s a decent album but far from the debut. For now Picture Perfect and I Got Your Man are outshining the rest of the tracks. It's definitely not writing history like when Jacki-O fought with everybody of the Queen of the South-title in Beef III or the classic T.K.O. aimed towards Foxy Brown.

But, I like the first single Baby Mama, (her bangs on the single cover is to die for btw) it has really grown on me and hopefully the album will do the same.

After all, it’s Jacki-O, still tatted up and raw. In the press release she states: "With my new music, I would like people to know that, despite my raunchy lyrics, I am real, I'm sincere about what I do, and regardless of what has been put out there about me, my talent will speak for itself".

Yeah it speaks, but not as loud as it used to. Listen to T.K.O and u’ll know what I mean.

Btw, haven’t read her book yet, a novel-book called "Grown and Gangsta" which chronicles the journey of 6 friends who have been raised up from the hood to achieve success in life—but don't forget their upbringings or each others during the good and bad times. Anyone who has read it? Is it worth ordering? Coz I doubt that my local library has it.

_090309: ReBorn?

I’m really starting to questioning Lil’ Wayne’s judgment here. Not just the fact that the original version of Prom Queen is sooooo much better than the released one, without them extra guitar riffs and shit. It’s still rock/rap but less of it. But now, he drops another bomb of the bad variety, featured guests on "Rebirth" will be Avril Lavinge and Fall Out Boy among others.

Ehrm okay? The Lil’ Mama x Avril Lavinge collabo turned out pretty good, better than expected anyway but the greatest rapper alive? And Fall Out Boy, don’t get me started. Lil’ Wayne is also gonna embrace some skate-punk on the album. Last time I was into that was when I was 14 and boys with a blonde semi-long hair, Chiquita-stickers on their forehead (this is hard to explain so I’m not gonna do that) and light blue boxers. It’s soon 14 years ago...

But well, my newfound love KanYe has also some productions credits on the album so it may turn out great after all? Or should we put all blame on dear Mr. West since Wayne has claimed that the inspiration to switch from his usual rap to rock was Yeezy’s new image? Or on the general waste of space Kid Rock for teach him to play the guitar?

However, the release for "Rebirth" has been postponed, from the 7th of April ‘til the 19th of May.

_090309: Doin' Girls Wrong

Uh, I’m really tiered and in a strange mood for some reason, the date just switched to the 9th of March and I’m gonna get a little political now. Yesterday it was the 8th of March aka. The International Women’s Day. I hate that fucking day. Pure hate. Why? Well it’s lost its political flavor. Okay if u celebrate it with honoring its history and all the things behind it. Like Alexandra Kollontai and everything. I’m not okay with some fugly man holding up doors for me and cheering "Happy Women’s Day!".

Just coz the calendar shows its International Women’s day it doesn’t mean that things have changed in a snap. We have been celebrating that day for 101 years now. Through the first wave of feminism, second wave, third wave and still things are pretty stagnated. The violence is the same, the common agenda is pretty much the same. Yeah, we have accomplished so much but far from enough. The day should be about enlightening the problems, not holding up doors. Real things that matter, not just common decency. But well, we can all start with stop doin’ girls wrong can’t we?!

.mp3: KanYe West - Doin' Girls Wrong (YSI) // (zShare)

_090306: Grab A Towel

Remember when Ed Banger ruled the blogsphere with all them boring Justice-leaks and the endless copycatting of SoMe’s artwork? Well, that day is long gone by bow and one of the up and coming competitors for the throne must be the Sweat It Out-label. Seriously, such good artists and mind-blowing killer artwork, just the brilliant idea of giving each artist one special shoe, gah I’m so annoyed that it is not who has done all them amazing covers.

My fave is (except for the amazing cover of the remix EP for KillaQueez’ Bitches) of course Act Yo Age and their Air Max 90, absolutely loving it. Also love their upcoming Lucky 13 which is gonna be released in exactly one week. Next Friday, just in time for Friday the 13th on BeatPort (second month in a row with a Friday 13th btw). The B-side of the single is a mix of the now classic Act Yo Age track The Flash courtesy of Italian funk-stars Sculoa Furano, engineered by none other than Bot, u might know him better as the half of Crookers.

And as a bonus, another banging remix of KillaQueenz’ Bitches signed Ooh Ee.

_090305: Get Mad, Get Crazy

After the huge success Ghislain Poirier gained with the amazing Go Ballistic with MC Zulu I’m so happy that he keep walking in the same direction. His latest EP "Soca Sound System" was released digitally in all good shops last week through Ninja Tune (buy it over here for example) and the physic vinyl drops this month.

"Soca Sound System" features another banger with MC Zulu, another with Face-T and this little goodie below with Mr. Slaughter.

_090304: Cudder's Sky Isn't Falling

No the sky isn't falling, quite the opposite... The release of KiD CuDi’s debut album "Man on the Moon: The Guardians" keeps crawling nearer as he just landed a deal with Universal Motown for the upcoming release! Congrats CuDi! This is just the beginning steps towards getting the CD on the stands and for everyone to purchase. Universal Motown currently has high profile artists signed for distribution deals such as Ryan Leslie , Lil’ Wayne (for Prom Queen) and Asher Roth. Now we just have to stay tuned for a more specific release date other than just summer 2009.

And yeah, Sky Might Fall has leaked, just keep in mind that this is _not_ the official version, its _unfinished_ and is not leaked by Cudder’s management nor himself but however, it’s nyce to get something new to please the ears with than just another remix of Day N’ Nite, even if this remix by MeLo-X is one of the best I’ve heard so far.

_090304: Every Prom Queen

The video for Lil’ Wayne’s Prom Queen is like a low budget high school movie. Story, plot and everything. Follows the line perfectly, even the mandatory feature of some boring band:

The boring band in this is nu metal hell Korn. I’m nearly out of words. U can’t feature Korn Weezy, u simply can’t. So well, my hopes for "Rebirth" (out the 19th of May) is not that big, I simply can’t cope with this rock/rap-shit, don’t think I will get used to it either, like I did with the auto-tune-effect and KanYe.

I rather listen to good typical Weezy, like Every Girl ft. Drake, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda, and Mack Maine, the first single of (the as of yet untitled) Young Money Entertainment collaboration album and the video for it was actually shot at the same time as Prom Queen and will drop soon.

_090302: Woman Dumb Like Hyphy

Oh my, what a day. First we had one of the most obnoxious customers ever in the store. Some women with a high squeaky voice, not squeaky sexy/cute, nah just a high pitch that can cut through glass-squeaky. I may be high maintenance sometimes but in comparison to this woman I’m a real saint. We think she must be ill or something, her behaviour is so out of place, like ur not in Beverley Hills dear, chillax. She also graced me with flashing herself and her fugly mismatching lingerie in the dressing room when she demanded that I should zip her up, not once, not twice, but three times.

I’m now blind and totally straight (at least for now), I also lost my nose since her body odour was everything but fresh. Seriously, I like helping people in the store when they are polite and just brought up with common decency and I have a very high level of tolerance but this woman pushed me over the edge. Last week (she’s a regular) she had one of her famous outbursts, for no reason at all, as I said, high maintenance gone totally wrong. Just an example, at the checkout, she can stand last in line and demand that she should cut the line and be served first, before the other costumers. It’s so uncomfortable to have her in the store, she’s so capricious, just waiting for the day when she goes totally mental. Die bloody stupid woman, die! But well, the day shaped up later on when my best partner in crime came to town and got me in a much better mood. Always good times and always ravaging.

Speaking of stupid for that matter, was an awfully long time since we had some hyphy up in here don’t ya think?

So well, let’s go dumb, after all it’s Monday, it’s more than okay. Got this trackpack from the production team Traklordz hailing from the Bay Area who recently dropped a producers album named "Duffel Bag Musik" featuring good names like E-40, Keak Tha Sneak, Clyde Carson, Mistah F.A.B, G. Malone, Ya Boy, the first lady of the Bay Jimmie Reign etc.

_090302: A GOOD Music Story

I’m not gonna complain about KanYe’s ego from when he guested on VH1's Storytellers (where he performed some of his new material as well as spoke about some of the motivations that led to his creations) or his KanYe-isms such as "My greatest pain in life is that I will never see me perform", oh no. I’m just gonna split some hairs about what the heck is up with the hair due?

Is it a mohawk? A misplaced toupee? Whatever it is, it’s ugly. He look like a confused boy who just ran off the set of Skins or something. Someone, hook him up with a clipper, asap. Other than that mr. West u told ur stories well, even if VH1 sadly removed the remarks on Chris Brown and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.

KanYe’s fave song off CuDi’s upcoming album is apparently a track that will be the third single called Mr. Solo Dolo, it was revealed when CuDi performed an acapella version (the original is produced by Dot Da Genius who also did Day N’ Nite) of the track in New Haven, Connecticut on Fridays. Where he also performed the upcoming second single Sky Might Fall (which also can be heard in the "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" trailers) produced by... yeah KanYe.

_090301: Ill Na Na Nana Na Na

When I was 14 (the golden year of 1995) Robyn had her major break (in Sweden) with Do You Really Want Me (the single was not released in the UK or the U.S. until 1998), a track that was built on an old nursery rhyme from 1677. Yeah, she was a trendsetter even in the early stages of her career and the biggest hype was to cut a Robyn-hair due and I did, first and last time my hair has been short, I looked like hell. Seriously, gah so damn awful.

However, now, 14 years later Jim Jones does the same thing as Robyn, with the same melody. Fresh? Well, Brittney Taylor in this is fresh;

"Pray IV Reign" will be out the 24th. More Dipset, someone who seems to have lost it completely is Cam’ron. Just his cover of True Magazine... Once upon a time he was hot, on that cover he looks like average borderline boring. I’m not that thrilled about his new single either:

I miss the old fully colour coordinated Cam. I really do. Is it green this year? I dunno, what I do know is that his sixth studio album "Crime Pays" is set to be released May 5th and that Cookies and Apple Juice is WAY better than the track above.

_090301: A Human Side Ponytail

Someone told me that Lady Sovereign’s upcoming single So Human was a murder on The Cure’s Close to Me, the person was really upset of the sampling but after a few listens I beg to differ. Then I never been a fan of Robert Smith or the Cure for that matter, but I actually think its rather cute.

The So Human-single will drop the 30th of this month (in the UK, it’s already out in the US) and I’m really looking forward to April and the release of Jigsaw (7th (US) / 13th (UK)). I’m just worried about the mixing of genres, hence the album title, apparently the genres should be like different jigsaw pieces all melting into one big midget-puzzle. But well, after that N.A.S.A.-project smorgasbord of genres, I guess there’s no need for worrying? A positive surprise is also that Sovie will be singing on the album, she told The Quietus:

"I was seeing someone, it was pretty deep. I was loved up. Then it all fucked up and I just wanted to sing about it really. I'm not the best singer in the world but you listen to it and you definitely feel it, you know. Rapping is second nature to me. I feel different when I sing. I feel lighter, it's fun."

Ps. If u miss Sovie’s sideways ponytail, maby this calypso dance break by Natalie Portman's Shaved Head tickles ur fancy:

_090301: Get On The Floor

Yeah, I’m okay, safe for all concerned mails and everything, I _love_ my readers, big up urself! I just need a 48h day to have the time for everything (like eat and sleep and this site) and things would be peachy. Well, it’s a new month and I’m gonna do my best to plan my time better and fill First Up! with interesting things.

Let’s start with some hip-house (seriously, I just hate that labeling, like the ridiculous "blog-house", hahaha don’t get me started) let’s just say, some good new music from the Dutch pride: Don Diablo.

I know, his type of music is not my usual content as it’s a bit more house than hip-hop and I prefer the latter but somehow this guy got me by hook, line and sinker.
