_081031: Therapy

The subway in Stockholm stood still for several hours yesterday. Not coz it was rainy, windy or wet leafs on the tracks, u know the regular drill, no, the real reason was a terrible dark and sad one. I got a phone call around noon today, telling me why the subway was closed. What do u tell someone u love more than life itself who lost one of their best friends yesterday at the other end of the phone? I’ve been through this so many times that I just shut down nowadays. What do u tell someone to heal the wound after loosings a friend whose final decision in life was to throw themselves before a train at only 21 years of age? Every year from what seems like forever this has happened to me or people I love. Suicide attempts (that thank God just ended as really scary attempts), OD-s, accidents and suicidal attempts that unfortunately succeeded.

When I moved to Uppsala when I was 19 with my former boyfriend I was completely shocked that everyone popped psychotropic drugs and happy pills. A whole generation, the children of the 1980’s. Now, the past weeks there has been several rapports showing the psychical state of generation Y as we are called and the prospects were no good. Stress, anxiety and burnt out were the keywords to describe us. The suicidal rate was extremely high. Isn’t it time to wake up, realize that u can’t fix these things with prescribing drugs? Yeah, u can restore the chemical unbalance in the brain, but that’s not dealing with the real problem itself. I don’t want more calls like this, I want people getting the right help. Therapy. Proper help. All my condolences goes out to this person which life ended yesterday family and friends. <3

The title of this track is the only thing that has some resemblance to the text above, the rest of it has definitely not, but well, it is what it is. Love the line in the chorus 5 6 7 8 I don’t need ur sex – I masturbate, it remembers me of old Bikini Kill songs from the masterpiece "Pussy Whipped". T-Pain's "Thr33 Ringz" will be out 11th of November, I just wish that he could loose his silly Mad Hatter-hat, that hat is fugliness into absurdum.

_081031: Brand New Fresh Kid Sis

Surprise surprise, Kid Sister’s longed for debut album "Dream Date" was supposed to drop in the end of next month, but (and yeah, here’s the surprise) the release is postponed until sometime in January. Is it just me who gets super annoyed of this shit?

Like Wiley’s album "See Clear Now" was gonna be out in 2 weeks we all knew that since he announced it, but no no no, not anymore, the new date is set to January or February. No one really seems to know, Wiley says one thing, online retailers another and Eskibeat a third. How can u think that someone actually will be an album that’s gonna be dated as fuck when it comes out in the stores? If u clear one date, address it to the people, media and retailers, why not at least tryyyyyyy to stick with it? Or if u are THAT unsure of the actual release why not stop chatting air and shouting ALBUM RELEASE every 5th minute when the different dates changes like the weather? If u gonna earn some money, well do ur damn job! If some next man is not doing his or hers job (whatever the sector might be), they don’t get paid and they can’t complain about it either.

Sorry for the outburst but frankly, get some real. But unlike from Wiley’s there’s legal leaks from Kid Sister’s album and her cover is smashing! Just look at it and the official tracklist:

1. Fashion Friction (Intro)
2. Life on TV (prod. by Yuksek)
3. Let Me Bang (prod. by XXXChange)
4. Family Reunion ft. David Banner (prod. by Diplo)
5. Don’t Stop Movin’ (prod. by Infamous and Develop)
6. Beeper (prod. by The Count and Sinden)
7. Get Fresh (prod. by A-Trak and XXXChange)
8. Pro Nails ft. Kanye West (prod. by A-Trak)
9. Down Ass Jawn (prod. by Trackademicks)
10. Dream Date Skit
11. First Ladies ft. Estelle (prod. by Curt Cameruci for Flosstradamus)
12. Control (prod. by XXXChange)
13. Switch Board ft. DJ Gant-Man (prod. by DJ Gant-Man)
14. You Ain’t Really Down (prod. by Greg "G-Ball" Magers and Graham "Grahamdogg" Burris)
Bonus-track: 15. Damn Girl (prod. by A-Trak)

I’m really thrilled about track number 11: First Ladies, which is a collabo along with Estelle where they pay homage to Queen Latifah and Monie Love with a remake of their old classic Ladies First, and Estelle SPITS fire! American Boy was decent but her latest album was a bit too mellow for my taste, I wan’t the Estelle who raps, that’s it.

I’m slightly disappointed over the last two leaks from "Dream Date", hate Diplo’s production on Family Reunion and Get Fresh is okay, but nothing more than just okay. But it’s not that bad as it goes into my.mp3 palyer right now, I, gonna head down to my grannie in the snow! Oh yes, the first snow came yesterday, I was a jolly child but it’s raining right now so it’s gonna be all gone in a couple of hours.

_081030: The Dream of the Booty

Every time I get home to Hultsfred I get sick, this time is no exception. But I must say, I sort of enjoy all feverish dreams that seem sprung out of a Twin Peaks episode or something, esp. the one that woke me up just now. But relax, I’m not gonna try to retell it. I hate that thing. But today is a bad day to be ill; me, my mami and my youngest sister are gonna head down to Kalmar, one of the best cities in Sweden, (love that town) and visit some new art museum, shop and eat. Kalmar has one of the best pizzerias I know, oh, I’m drooling Homer-style just by the very thought of it really.

Speaking of dreams for that matter, The Dream is finally back with his sophomore album called "Love vs. Money". The album is scheduled to be released on December 16 via Def Jam Recordings and The Dream's Radio Killa imprint. The Dream told DJ-Booth that "This album’s gonna be the same thing - a little more beefed up, I’m just gonna give you more. Every album I’m just gonna try to give you more of me, and what I think about certain things... This album is just gonna be the first album on crack, basically".

And what seems to be the first single, a track produced by Lil’ Jon called Booty fits the description above perfectly. I can’t state this too many times, I’m so happy that Lil’ Jon is back in the producing game again instead of trying to be another Katt Williams comedian! This ust be one the most perfect relationship crunk and r’n’b has ever had.

_081029: Shells M.I.A on the Floor

M.I.A.’s "Kala" has already been reissued in the UK via XL (spoke about this some posts back) and will be in the States via Interscope the 4th of November.

The gain of the re-release is a 6 track long bonus disc which content differs from the two releases. Aside from different Paper Planes/Boyz-remixes, the three bonus tracks from the Japan-release and Sound of Kuduro with the BSS the disc features this little pearl called Shells.

The track is borderline crazy/soft and delicate, sounds almost like a nursery rhyme, I’m guessing that it will come in handy for Maya some months ahead... These pregnancy announcements are crazy btw, same day M.I.A.’s reveald hers on stage at that Diesel xXx event, I got 3 (!) preggo announcements from my beloved ones. I can easily chill and ignore the sound of my biological clock ticking coz I def don’t have to get any kidz for a couple of years, I’m sort of safe in that area for a LONG time.

Shells can also be found on the "How Many Votes Fix Mix" EP (iTunes only) which was released yesterday along with the Boyz remix with Jay-Z and the track Far Far.

Yeah btw, speaking of clocks ticking and M.I.A. I have totally forgotten to post her amazing remix of Busy Signals’ latest single Tic Toc were her young bright prospect Rye Rye lays one of the best verses ever, so here it is.

_081029: Back on Road and Rollin'

Woop woop, Roll Deep’s Roachee is out of prison people and he’s back with a bang in this remix of Tinchy’s new track Rollin’:

Love this track, it’s produced by Bow’s youngster Brandon "Maniac" Jolie (he’s just 18 but got a bigger CV than most guys in the scene, for example he has produced tracks for Wiley such as the massive Bow E3 and the soundtrack of the movie "AdULTHOOD") and will be released the 10th of November on the "Stryder vs. Maniac" EP. Tinchy contributes with 6 different vocals and Maniac with 6 different instrumentals and my gut feeling is that it’s gonna be some good stuff on that EP, just peep the tracklist:

But in wait for that to drop, download the very first episode of the Nike AM90-project where the legendary photographer Shawn Mortensen traversed Europe, hooking up with eight young music talents who mainline the Air Max 90 attitude which features just Maniac as number 1 out of the eight chosen ones.

The 5 min later update: This new BIG track from Rapid's fortcoming album "Rapid Fire" (dropping next year) called Stuck On My Mind ft. fellow Ruff Squad mate Tinch just dropped into my inbox, enjoy!

_081027: That Cow Pussy Beard

I’m so tired of reading that KanYe’s hardcore fans dislike his new material from "808’s and Heartbreak", can’t they just shut the fuck up and realize that renewing himself like this is the best thing he has ever done? Laying those tardy typical hip hop beats on the dusty shelf where they belong and instead replace them with fresh tribal drums generated by a Roland TR-808, (yeah I’m stating the obvious, but hence the name of the album).

I love the fact that KanYe compare the critique of this newfound heavy love relationship with tech things such as the (still quite wack) auto tune-effect on every single track and the 808 on the album with the story of when he was a child and thought the color pink was kool until someone told him "it was gay". I imagine that KanYe has been claimed to be gay like a million times, esp. since his blog is every gay man’s dream of designer gadgets and coffee tables and so on. Guess that’s why he’s compensating with all those chicks in skimpy underwear with cheesy lines in speech bubbles.

This (still unfinished) version of Robocop reminds a little too much of Heartless to completely sweep me of my feet, but I’m guessing that the final version with additional treatment by Herbie Hancock will, coz the track is good. The only thing now that rubs me the wrong KanYeezy-way is the promo pic for the album (above), it looks like KanYe straight outta the hipster version of "Freaks and Geeks", I’m def not feeling it. I also hate them beards looking like a cow's pussy, get a proper clean beard if u should sport that shit, or better... SHAVE!

_081027: Black Diamond Skank

Sorry for the drought the past days, I have suffered a severe technical breakdown; my cell phone is more or less dead, the charger for the cell became an electric hazard, all my earphones got broken, my telly bailed on me, can’t watch my fave channels, dvd, video or play on my snes and finally, as the last nail in the coffin, my neighbor whose been supplying me with my wireless connection decided to move the router out of reach from my sofa and all comfortable places in my flat. Super annoying, why must everything break down at the same time? Well, now me and my cute little behind (with brutal aches from excessive exercise Fridays when I went to my first pilates class, I was nervous as hell, but all went well, it was really nyce to see that I’m still flexible, just that my back is really fucked from all horseback riding accidents in my youth), anyway me and my aching body are now at my parents in Hultsfred. Love it!

Another thing I absolutely love is that Buraka Som Sistema’s debut album "Black Diamond" will get it’s (Europe) release on the 10th of November via Fabric Records (will be out in all good shops and online stores). Here’s the real official tracklist which is a little different from the LP released in their home country Portugal earlier this year (the old one still floating around claimed to be the new one on several sites, whatever happened to the good old research people?!).

1. Luanda-Lisboa ft. DJ Znobia
2. Sound of Kuduro ft. DJ Znobia, M.I.A., Saborosa, Puto Prata
3. Aqui Para Voces ft. Deize Tigrona
4. Kalemba (Wegue-Wegue) ft. Pongo Love
5. Kurum
6. IC19
7. Tiroza ft. Bruno M
8. General
9. Yah ft. Petty
10. Skank and Move ft. Kano
11. D D D D Jay ft. Petty
12. New Africas [part 1]
13. New Africas [part 2]

My absolute fave track (along with Kurum and Sound of Kuduro of course) must be Skank and Move featuring Kano, it’s absolutely perfect! Yeah, the track below it’s the full version, not the radiorip that’s floating around if some 'wise' guy wanna go hard up in the comment field. Seriously, what has been up with them (in my eyes, quite strange and stupid questions and statements) comments lately? Yeah, I’m Wiley’s biggest street team, that’s why I big him up in every sentence and sugarcoat my true feelings with heart shaped sprinkles? While we’re on that never ending story Wiley btw, some more material has leaked from the album, it’s utter rubbish, I’ll see if I can fit them in sometime soon, also, the video for She’s Glowin’ ft. Kano and Ghettz just got shot and will turn up in time for the release of the single.

Back to Buraka, don’t understand why they cut out the other UK-collabo, the title track with Viruz Syndicate from this new release, Black Diamond was sooo good, esp. the second Syndicate-verse oh my. But well, I really can’t be mad about that, not when almost every track is a party for my aching butt cheeks. That reminds me, haven’t posted this official video for Kalemba (Wegue-Wegue) yet, brace urself:

I’m really tiered from my long trip so gonna tuck myself in, in my mother’s grannies old sheets (best sheets ever, just the smell of them), but to wrap this shit up, the hottest joint from Diplo’s "Hollertronix #9".

_081022: Cold Stories

Early morning are you working? Yeah, I know, it’s a matter of definition isn’t it? It all depends on where you are. I ought to be deep asleep but nah, the wind is whining so loud through my windows like there’s a heavy snowstorm right out the Astriid Lindgren movie for Emil of Lönneberga or something, u know, the one where they cut a bull open and takes hide from the blistering cold into the warm sticky guts and other stomach contents. Anyway it sound so much that it woke me up and I can’t go back to sleep cuz then I wont wake up in the morning when I should go up.

What’s going on otherwise? Well, I ended my 6 month long SSRI-medication 2 weeks ago. Hardest fucking thing ever, not the ending itself or losing the meds, cuz I’m quite against popping happy pillz and so on (but yeah, they were sort of needed after my huge breakdown earlier this year), the heavy part was the withdrawal symptoms, which are known as discontinuation syndrome, which in my case got really severe. Oh my days. My body has been acting crazy deluxe, u know that episode of Scrubs when JD goes on and on about his floating head? That’s exactly how this has been. My body has been completely disconnected from my head, acting on it’s on, sometimes I even had to pinch myself and press my nails hard into my hands to see if they still were there. The whole body has been asleep kind of. But now, the discontinuation syndrome is almost over and I’m starting to feel like my old self again. Such a relief. I‘ve got my sexual urges back for example, I’m starting to feel like more human than a programmed robot who’s only goal except from occasional freelance work has been trying to get into a normal eat and sleep-routine. I’m not quite there yet, but things are progressing. I just wanna function like the every other normal 27 year old woman.

Speaking of anxiety disorders and so on, the Swedish dancehall/reggae artist Daniel "Papa Dee" Wahlgren got his sentence for beating up his wife, Andrea Wahlgren Mondays. He was freed of all charges since Andrea the whole time has been claiming that it was in fact she, who beat herself up and unconscious with a large heavy candle due to a panic attack. Papa Dee got 70 unit fines for pushing her into a stone wall. The whole case is quite strange. Cuz the medical-legal practitioner claims that she could not have beaten herself with that force by the way her injuries looked, There is not one witness to the event, not two, not three, it’s 6 different witnesses all claiming that the beating took place, Papa Dee’s former girlfriend also testifies that he repeatedly used domestic violence on her. I know, freed in court, freed of charges, but I can’t help to feel a bit empty and sad by this ruling.

In most cases regarding domestic violence there are no witnesses what so ever, its word against word and the woman is in 9 cases out of 10 the victim. If someone can’t be found guilty when there’s proof and where the medical examination proves the possible victims story to be a lie, isn’t it something wrong with the system? The wife, who tells it all in her blog about her condition (anxiety, panic attacks, self destructive injures like cutting herself, a heavy eating disorder...) follows the battered women behaviors right out of the school book. It’s all so sad. Whether if it was he or she who did beat her unconscious. If it was herself he is a damn shitty man who let it all happen before his eyes. If u see have someone in our life with that much pain like she seem to suffer, u get them help. U don’t just let them keep on hurting themselves like that. u just don’t do that if u claim to love the person.

And yeah, Papa Dee has now talked out in the tabloids, I’ve always thought that he was just as smart as good looking, but oh boy did I was wrong. He claims that his time in Swedish custody was like Gunatamamo, Are u fucking kidding me Daniel? That’s just so ridiculous that I’ve now lost all my hope, ur a lost cause.

I’m going to make some breakfast now before I head out to a meeting and to meet my new personal trainers for the first time around noon (it’s part of my get back into buiz-plan, healthy mind – healthy body, I’m so damn nervous, I haven’t worked out since I was 16, 11 years ago!). What suits this post better than some emo KanYe about snow storms and difficult love? And yeah, I do like KanYe now, how strange that may be, but the final version of Heartless speaks for itself, big big big.

_081021: Scrilla In His Pocket

Was on about this yesterday but now the cover and the official tracklist for Wiley’s upcoming album called "See Clear Now" has been leaked and I say it yet again, who’s to blame for the artwork on the cover? Or artwork is the wrong term, that’s not art, nor work for that matter, that’s just writing 4 words with a fugly font, tilt it a bit and spice it up with the paint bucket and a 2 colour gradient and trying to make it look like... windows?

Seriously? Are u kidding me? HOW can anyone be satisfied with a cover like that? Okay if it was some mixtape from a gut in his pre-teens but as an actual album of an 'respected' artist? I don’t get it. Wiley holla at ur girl, I’ll do it for free, u can’t just put that out on the shelves!

Rumors has been flying like crazy about this album, like that one that Lily Allen should be on it, but well, here’s Wiley sorting things out.

Yeah, so no Lily. Would have been too much of a copy of "Maths + English" wouldn’t it? But well, here’s the official tracklist:

1. Ryder Intro
2. Wearing My Rolex
3. I Need To Be
4. Summertime
5. See Clear Now ft. Kano and Scorcher
6. Cash In My Pocket ft. Daniel Merriweather
7. 5AM ft. Scorcher
8. Step By Step ft. Hot Chip
9. Turn It Up
10. Cant Stop Thinking
11. I Am The Sea

I’m quite intrigued about that Hot Chip collabo but my question is, what on earth happened to She’s Glowin’? That track has grown on me for real now and isn’t it strange to relase it as a single but then leave it out from the album? Funniest thing about this 'pop/commercial grime'-album must be when Wiley stated in the Daily Star that he wanted to be: "the male equivalent of Missy Elliott" in relation to blending pop appeal with musical innovation... Isn’t it sad to making grime more appealing for the masses? To pop it up? Into radio friendly background music? Well, Dizzee managed to keep his credibility (at least in my eyes) with "Maths + English" when he slowed it all down to reach a larger crowd.

However, I don’t like Cash In My Pocket with Daniel Merriweather and Mark Ronson on the production. it's horrible. This is what I meant yesterday, Dizzee would have pulled it off, like he did with that David Byrne-song for example, this just floats by, but hey, I’m sure it will open some new ears in favor of Wiley and that’s what he’s striving for, so well, yeah... Def a song that will get up on the most popular chart on Hype Machine and it will probably stay there in the next 6 months or so.

"See Clear Now" will be out the 10th of November and it will be really interesting to say the least.

_081020: Hunting Season

The hunting season for moose started last Monday here in south of Sweden, the second Monday of October is almost sacred, People call in sick from work to be out hunting instead, cashes in precious vacation days and so on. But to be perfectly honest, it’s such a big fuzz for a whole lotta nothing. Hunting rewards patience and I don’t have any. I used to be out hunting with my papi when I was younger, it was always some game hanging upside down from a rope and getting tender when I fetched my bicycle from our garage at that time, imagine the big dead eyes from a deer staring back at u in the dark at 7 am. No wonder I rebelled and became a vegan in my teens. Anyway aside from the shooting, hunting is dreadfully boring. U need to be absolutely quiet, stand still and just wait for it. Basically stand still in the woods. Not exactly my idea of fun. But now, it’s the third Monday of October and the hype has staring to fade, thanks heaven.

The reason I bring this up is the lovely Hunting We Will Go produced by Mikey J, def one of the best tracks from Kano’s almost 1 month old album "140 Grime St.". Children songs and nursery rhymes always tickles my fancy. And Ghetto. Ghetto Ghetto Ghetto. Just look at him 3:25 in in this clip from his birthday live at the Junction in Cambridge on Kano's "140 Grime St." Club tour:

Ghetto is the future of grime, no question about that. Not saying that Kano and "140 Grime St." is a bad album, cuz it’s not, quite the contrary, it’s one of the most cohesive ones that has came out of the scene ever, but I can’t help missing that Kano who spat I Hate Boyfriends on Commander B’s Pum Pum-riddim.

Yeah, I sort of miss the old state of grime, had a trip down memory lane this weekend, watch the Crazy Titch dvd, some old footage from the Lord of the Mics and so on, and to compare, didn’t grime sounded better before? Now, y’all know I’m not that reactionary person, I actually encourage development, just look at Dizzee for example. I can’t hate on Dizzee for doing other things than just pure grime, cuz Dizzee will always sound like Dizzie even on pop he does his thing. Wiley on the other hand, should be really interesting to see how the new album is when it drops in a month or so. Uneven is my tip.

But I miss the aggression grime had, now the aggression seems to have been replaced with just air, electro hype and... jail. That’s one of the reasons Ghetto is big in my book, he’s aggressive and his bare presence has the ability to raise the levels of some mc’s a couple of notches, like Wretch 32. I dunno, Wretch is ok, but he bores the hell out of me. Like his debut album "Wretchrospective" that was released last week. I still haven’t managed to get through all 16 tracks, cuz sadly I get bored after some time, just by the way he sounds. One of the best tracks of that album is def Inna Di Ghetto with Badness and Ghettz produced by Maniac.

Btw, while we’re on that Ghetto-hype, Shystie is well known for her female replies such as I Luv U to Dizzee and U Get Boyed aimed for all them male takes on the Pum Pum-riddim I mentioned earlier up. Now she has (aside from jumping on the bassline-hype with the huge track Pull It ft. Subzero) taken on Ghetto and his massive Sing For Me.

_081019: Where's Your Love?

Yeah, I’ve sort of been under maintenance for a couple of days, just like zShare, KanYe broke us both. Haha, but now we’re back on track.

I’ve been waiting for this video below for Craig David's Where’s Your Love? for quite some time now since I love the track, it contains samples from the good old UKG tune Hold On by Colours and features golden boy Tinchy Stryder and vocalist Rita Ora. But just as the track is absolutely wonderful, the video is sadly horrible. It’s just very boring to say the least and must like have the same budget as a kiddy lunch at school.

The only nyce thing about it is that Craig sports one of Tinchy’s t-shirts.

Where’s Your Love? will be out on digital download on November 10th on the classic UKG-label ICE CREAM RECORDS. Craig will also release a "Greatest Hits"-album on November 24th which will include everything from 7 Days, Fill Me In, Where’s Your Love? as well as his new single, a hot dance track called Insomnia produced by Jim Beanz from Timbaland productions.

_081016: Completely Heartless

Say what u want about KanYe, or wait, let me rephrase that, _I_ can say what I want about KanYe, but he’s not dumb. A BIT pretentious perhaps, but not dumb. Like his listening party for the upcoming "808s and Heartbreak" (out November 25th). if it was any other rapper that had invited one of my fave artists; Vanessa Beecroft to show off her trademark, the girls like that, if would just be sordid and used as an excuse to show full frontal female nudity with the explanation that it’s art. I’ve questioned KanYe’s taste several times, like that hideous coffee table he posted up on his blog earlier this week, it looked like some operation table on crack, a klingy klangy thing in stainless steel.

But the VBKW collabo shows that KanYeezy actually got some taste. And listen to this, I actually LIKE his upcoming 2nd single Heartless. I got nothing to complain about, not even the auto-tune. Will I start to actually like KanYe for real now? I’m confused.

.mp3: KanYe West - Heartless (Full) (YSI) // (zShare)

_081015: Girlie's Got It

Take one cute former real estate agent, a girly girl hailing from Jamaica, currently living in Atlanta since 2005, a hot beat, a verse from Weezy F Baby and an obnoxious boom-shacka-lacka-lacka repeated frequently throughout the whole track. Then throw in some fashion references, a cute laughter and as the cherry on top several yeahs, there u have it.

Yeah, the receipt I just described might have the potential to fall into the category cheap-tricks-to–get-a-hit but I don’t care. I just LOVE it. I LOVE Girlie. I love it all, small things like the fact that she posts MySpace-blogs about what nail polish colour u should buy for fall. She will perform at the B.E.T Awards the 18th, I doubt that she still will be unsigned after that.

.mp3: Girlie ft. Lil' Wayne - Girlie's Got It (YSI) // (zShare)

_081013: The Big Money Sound

When I was at Uni and wrote a big paper for my Cultural Anthropology level B course, there was one chick in my class who used Wikipedia as her _only_ source. No not even the academic one, the mainstream version. She bluntly wrote: "Wikipedia" on the page for the sources. No search strings attached, no dates, no nothing. She passed the course with that paper btw, sort of tells the state of Uppsala Uni doesn’t it? Well, the reason this crossed my mind was cuz I saw now that some wise guy has changed a thing on Roll Deep’s Wikipedia page for their previous album "Rules and Regulations" released last year. Track number two is obviously according to good ol’ Wiki called Bring Ur Poo Then. Wikipedia is such reliable source, haha!

However, in all fairness to Roll Deep, "Rules and Regulations" was a good album, in contrast to their debut "In at the Deep End" from 2005 which was kinda shitty, it was too well adapted for the mainstream public. The question is, when will Roll Deep manage to get an album just right?

Third time’s the charm or? Well, "Return of the Big Money Sound", out today on Roll Deep Recordings, will probably generate the biggest money out of all their releases so far, no question about that.

The Danny Weed produced Roll Deep Is Back sets the agenda on the 12 track long album with a tough and bashy sound and all is good in the hood. The first single Do Me Wrong ft. Janee is an okay jump on the electro-house-club hype that’s been sweeping over the scene like a plague. But the plague becomes a problem when Wiley yet again starts rapping about some girl that wanna wear his rolex in Drinks. I’m starting to get really tiered of Wiley’s voice, like I was when it was "Tunnel Vision" overload. A group is just as strong as its weakest link and in the rap game on this, Wiley’s weak. He should stick to producing for a while, cuz his work on Give Up and mostly on Club 7 is fantastic, the latter is my current favorite track of the album actually. Flo’dan, Killa P and Riko owns Wiley’s ass rap wise into absurdum. Another nyce production is the one by Bless Beats on the moody The Street’s like Night Life. One track I don’t know if I should hate from the bottom of my heart or like is the ska-like Moving in Circles, it reminds of Shake a Leg from the debut, and I recall that I had exact same prob with that one as well, it’s just too strange and makes the album uneven.

Yeah. "Return of the Big Money Sound" is a little straggling, but to make a record fully consistent when u roll as deep as Roll Deep Crew must be kind of impossible?

Wiley’s Summertime is out today as well. Who’s to blame for his new cover art work seen on that, on Wearing My Rolex and Grime Wave? It’s absolutely hideous. Is it Hardsy? I miss the old Willer, I miss videos like Pies and covers like the one from "Playtime’s Over". I want the old Wiley without tardy samples from Daft Punk but not the one that remixes Got Somebody from his debut like he did some month ago. According to Wikipedia Wiley will release an album called "See Clear Now" on November 17th but I wouldn’t put all my trust into that 'fact'. What’s for certain is that the next single She ‘s Glowin’ will be out November 24th. Liking the auto-tune effect or not, the track has grown on me, mostly cuz this huge remix with Kano and Ghettz. Don’t mind the Westwood drops.

_081013: Watch Out!

There are soooo many good releases dropping today it’s absolutely ridiculous.

First up, The Count and Sinden’s EP "Hardcore Girls" out on Domino and digital download in all good shops. Except for the fantastic cover, (seriously, yellow is sort of my new fave colour, all the clothes I’m buying atm are yellow) the maxi version of the EP is filled with 6 tracks: 4 different versions of Hardcore Girls, the original, a dub and two massive remixes by JC and Project Bassline. The 5th track is a dirty one called Fool In Love which has a dark d’n’b/jungle feel to it and also features the everlasting stunning vocalist NY. The last one and the absolutely most mental one is a bouncy little treat featuring JME covering the music industry and JME gets yet another chance to take the rest of the rap game to school and his spit his 'serious'-trademark buiz to the mic.

To prepare for the release of their forthcoming album, Count and Sinden will be giving away free downloads every month so stay glued to thecountandsinden.com. A whole album, oh my days, I’m out of words, yeah, like once in a blue moon, haha! Btw, if u still can’t get enough of Hardcore Girls Don Rimini has made a nasty boy mix to satisfy ur needs. It will make u sweat for sure.

Second, Platnum’s follow-up to What’s It Gonna Be called Love Shy (Thinking About You). It might be the perfect soundtrack to some of my feelings right now. Haha, yeah already covered the state of my so called love-life in the secret code-post, but the last weeks I’ve been feeling like I’m 13 years again, might think these things are related. I must have a crush or something. It’s quite hard for me to admit this as I’ve been single for more or less 4 years now with occasionally on and off’s. Sometimes I feel like a love struck 13 year old, shy and totally incapable to take any form of initiative. Why, well things tend to get complicated when it involves more than just me, myself and I?

Well, either way, I would have danced my ass off to this track when I was 13, singing along on the dance floor at our disco’s held at the youth recreation centre with one smoke machine as the only proper disco prop and the no alcohol-rules hanging outside.

What’s It Gonna Be was by far a better track, but 2.00 min into this it turns out to be quite decent, _love_ the cheerleader rap. I’m not that fond of the video, thou, just the description: Hot girls, awesome cars and a geek laying down some slamming moves. What more do you want?! Platnum are joined by Max Power babes n motors, and we see the return of your favourite dancing geek from the wicked 'What's It Gonna Be?' video, who sees off yet another body popping pretender! Well played mate.... Ohhh, what a nyce and refreshing concept!

Love Shy will be out in several different remixes, the one from Virgo is a safe card, not too euro disco-ish and not to minimal, just perfect. Need to catch some sleep now, will continue with more releases later on today.

_081012: Boyz, Birds Or A Plane?

Just cuz Mad Decent hates on La Fonda’s version of Paper Planes (from her upcoming mixtape "The Remixes") everyone follows like stupid sheep and hates on it as well, but not me, no, I’m an obnoxious 27 year old child and gonna go in the opposite direction. Haha no, but to be frank, I think it’s rather... cute actually. It’s definitely not worse than any of the other 500 billion remixes of the track that’s floating around out there. I think the reason people hate on it is cuz it’s not done by some famous rapper with the right amount of street cred, cuz if Paper Planes would be dead as Mad Decent states, it should have been buried a long time ago, before the Swagga Like Us-sampling, even before Jim Jones jumped on.

But now it’s not, the single will get released in the UK tomorrow and M.I.A. has more up her sleeve than signing Rye Rye to her new founded label called N.E.E.T. (via Interscope Records) and promoting Okley Leslie, on the 4th of November her second album "Kala" (which is over a year old now) will be re-released via Interscope added with some extra life boost of 6 new bonus tracks. The tracks are still a secret but it’s speculated that the remixes found below by Jay-Z and Wale of Boyz will be at least one of them.

It’s quite interesting to see what impact M.I.A have had on the music scene with the success in the States, no one in the UK made their own remixes before US-rappers like Jigga and T.I. joined forces on Swagga Like Us, now all of a sudden Tinie Tempah and Bashy among others have jumped on the plain and made their own versions of the track. Isn’t that kinda sad? That a UK artist needs US fame and hype from US rappers to get recognition by other UK artists? But well, retired or not, Maya Mathangi Arulpragasam will continue to have more impact on the music scene worldwide than many will have in their entire lifetime.

_081012: Sell Off, Lock and Load!

Can’t sleep, probably cuz I slept a good 24 hrs in a row last night... So well, why not cover some things that happened while I was sleeping.

U know the Reign-riddim Matt Shadetek did, that Skepta spat some famous bars over, I think it’s one of my fave productions ever, it’s absolutely _perfect_; mellow but crazy, beautiful and disturbed at the same time. I wanna marry that track. I want it to be played at my funeral, (the instrumental that is, without Skepta spitting) followed by Not Tonight by Kimmie and Jacki-O’s Pussy. That would be perfect wrap. So if I die anytime soon, u know what to play.

Well, now it wasn’t my death I was gonna go on about, it was Matt Shadetek. 77Klash’s Mad Again (aka Craziest Riddim 2) is old as hell, but a damn good song, and mostly thanks to Matt. As I’ve stated, a lot of tracks got their videos this week, so did Mad Again ft. the legendary Johnny Osbourne, as well:

The track is definitely better than the video, the track is fantastic, the video is not. I’m for sure dead tiered of nu rave coloring and zebra prints. But horrible clothes aside and even if it's not appealing to the eyes, it still has a purpuse, it makes me wanna dance.

_081011: Tighter Than My Dereon

My body’s acting bananaz right now so I don’t have any energy to write anything long, just gonna post this quick thingee, the music video for Beyoncé’s new single If I Were a Boy, a pretentious gender battle in black and white topped off with a hideous hair due;

Actually like the track even if it’s semi-dull sometimes, but well, I’m way more fond of the second track of the single called: Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), it’s so damn good! A classic Beyoncé girl-anthem produced by Tricky Stewart and Terius "The-Dream" Nash. B’s third solo album "I Am..." will be released on November 18.

_081009: All Hail The Queens

Yo! Majesty’s debut album "Futuristically Speaking...Never Be Afraid" was released on Domino Records Mondays and even if the group is now a duo, consisting of Shunda K and Jwl B instead of a trio, it doesn’t make the quality less good. I’ve been completely blown away by this album to be frank. To be perfectly honest, was a really long time when I had the time and most of all, the urge to listen through the whole thing, from start to finish, more than a couple of times. I’ve had this on constant repeat the whole week. It’s utter perfection! This is a record I would have been head over heels about even if I still was deeply into the punk and riotgrrrl-scene, it has so many sides to It other than just to be categorized Wikipedia style as "challenging the male chauvinist standard in hip-hop".

Just read two small and very lazy Swedish reviews of this record, one from Jonas Grönlund over at Sydsvenskan when he states that Yo! Majesty just yells over 2nd class electro beats, the second one from NG and NRFN claims that this is too flipped out for the dance floor and too easy for headphones. The latter falls into the category that taste in music is very subjective, but to state that Yo! Majesty yells over 2nd class beats is just plain wrong. Since when are beats from like Basement Jaxx (on Booty Klap) and RadioClit on Grindin' And Shakin' like 2nd class? This is why I don’t read any Swedish mags at the moment, l manage without reading things by lazy and uninterested people (read: men) with no clue what so ever. Compare them reviews with the one in NME for example, the NME-one tells facts, have made research and a proper journalistic work. Sorry for sounding grumpy but I’m so fed up!

Well back to the productions, aside from Basement Jaxx and RadioClit most of the tracks on "Futuristically Speaking...Never Be Afraid" are produced by the London-based electronica duo Hard Feelings UK. My absolute fave track aside from Booty Klap is Take It Away. It’s so perfect! Another one that’s absolutely stunning is Buy Love which kinda reminds of BlaqStarr’s latest banger, the slow jam Bang Hard another goodie is the beautiful Never Be Afraid that reminds of Le Tigre’s Keep On Livin’-anthem. There’s just one track I’m not THAT fond of and it’s Fcked Up, reminds me of L7 and the Gossip and I never been a fan of any of them. But I actually like the rawness of the track.

From the 28th this month Yo! Majesty will be touring round the UK along with Neon Neon, for all dates peep their MySpace.

One track that’s not on the album is this funny collabo about the battle of the sexes sex skillz with Manchie’s finest grime group Virus Syndicate that will drop their new album "Sick Play" the 13th.

_081009: That's Painful CiCi

Now CiCi _finally_ gives the world something else to talk about then that nude/not nude-cover of Vibe. I know so many videos (too many videos) to get through right now. Kinda annoying that all releases happens at the same time in autumn. Got loads of new records to cover, some of the with all the same release date. Is that smart, sales wise? Why not spread them out? Isn’t that more lucrative business? Well anyway, this has been said to be Ciara's best video in her whole career:

Okay… Eh, I dunno what CiCi tries to accomplish with it thou, embody the fantasy of a sexy secretary who goes hard at a work out pass anno 1979 moving on to snitching glasses from Kylie’s wardrobe from Can’t Get U Out Of My Head and borrowing the skimpiest pieces out of Madonna’s s-m closet? It’s the work of Melina Matsoukas, who did the AMAZING Good Good-video for Ashanti. And this is the turn out? My direct feel is a big NO NO NO. WHERE’S MY CIARA?! The girl with the goodies and the 1-2 step? Like I said before, love this track but the video makes me unsure of her yet again. Just the black lipstick, oh my diddy.

"Fantasy Ride" will be out the 8th of December and like I said before, I keep my fingers crossed that the "Crunktown"-disc will contain my good old crunk-r’n’b chick.

Haven’t mentioned T-Pain part in the video above, cuz it’s painful, when will he lay off that ridiculous hat? Anyway, "Thre33 Ringz" will be out the 11th of November, the track I’m looking forward the most of that is Snap Yo Fingers with Lil’ Wayne but I actually like the new single along with Chris Brown called Freeze, esp, the club remix by Nukes (see link below). Freeze is out the next week and here’s also some brand new heat involving T-Pain from the Timbo-factory from the follow up to "Shock Value" named "Shock Value: Volume 2". Esp. love Missy Elliott’s part of the track.

_081008: Keep A Secret Code

This is one of them videos that will be overanalyzed into absurdum, pixel by pixel, frame by frame by white political correct middleclass students at Uni’s all over. It’s like their ultimate fantasy finally came to life:

They will try to find out 'hidden' symbolism, the sterile vs. the colorful and so on. Western world vs. Africa. Btw, so funny that the video premiered on Ellen’s show. I hate Ellen and her haircut and style. So strange she landed Portia De Rossie, but opposites attract I guess. Well, I know, nuff hatin! I hated this track before, but to be perfectly honest, it has grown on me like weeds after a rainy night and a sunny day. Now, I love it. Is it the current state of my love life that subconscious tries to speak with me? I dunno.

Here I wrote a long rant about it but haha I deleted it cause the persons involved reads this and it would be like jinxing too much and shooting myself in the face posting my thoughts about it. I’m usually quite blunt when it comes to my love life. I’m straight, tells it how it is and yeah, sometimes it works, in most cases it don’t. Guess I scare people? Therefore, I'm trying a new approach, to keep a secret code. Dunno if men wants the whole secret thingee, u know a woman right of a Virginia Wolf novel, fragile and mysterious like a bird. But I’m fragile too, perhaps this is where things get tricky, I’m too complex?! Anyway, don’t understand the men in my life right now, I really don’t. Why make things difficult when it can be quite easy? I'm not that girl playing silly games from the book "The Rules", games confuses me.

Anyway, my "love life" aside, Sophia Fresh is one of them girl groups that constantly slips my mind even if Super Bad was a stunning track and that I’ve featured them a couple of times before. Hopefully this theme up with KanYe and production signed T-Pain will give Crystal, Shye and Cole Rose the recognition they deserve.

_081008: Fly, Cool and FUNNY

Ken Ring’s blog was my absolute fave blog of the Swedish hiphawp community, until he made an utter fool of himself with that whole incident with the rape allegations that is. But now I have found its replacement; Henok Achido’s. It’s not updated very often, it doesn’t got the best story line, it’s not the most intellectual thingee, but its tickles my fancy as it’s _funny_. In big capital letters: FUNNY! I miss the sense of humour on the streets of Internet. Prancehall’s used to make me laugh once in a while, now he’s just a sad leftover of the Benny Hill-legacy or maybe he’s been sucking Vice-balls too long and got a work related injury called: NFAA (No Fun At All...).

But Henok knows how to be funny, to describe Eye-N-I with the words "one eye out of order" is humour with finesse. Now we all know Henok tickles my fancy more than just his blog-skillz. He’s one of them very few Swedish rappers I can listen to without feeling ashamed or wanna hide myself in a dark closet space. His new single Fly Fresh produced by Filthy is so good I don’t know what to do with myself. I know the video has been all over the blogsphere all ready but do I care? Apparently, not:

The only thing I dislike with the video is the overly used "Chillaxing and suddenley I hear my song on the radio on some old tape recorder from the 1980’s"-shit at the end. Aside from that it's quite fly, esp. the new trend of scarfs hanging blasé on heads (remember that Kano sported the same style in Hustler?). Or have I missed something? Has it been in fashion for long? I’m into flipped heels at the moment, my knowledge of headgear got lost in seeking of retailers of Swims City Slippers.

The wait for the debut album "Almaz Charming Child" just became so much longer when I saw this. But in wait for that or If u have missed Henok’s 8 tracks long EP "That Fucking Guy" u can direct download it for free via this link.

As an extra treat, u remember Take My Cool Off ft. Lazee? Here’s the official remix by the producer Fiend.

_081007: Now Walk With Me

We ready? Yes, a new month, a semi-new layout update and First Up! is back in buiz!

It’s been silent over here for a couple of days, 10 to be exact. I’ve been busy trying to get my life back on track. Concentrating to sleep and eat basically. Something I haven’t done properly in weeks. Why? I don’t know why. It’s as simple as that, It’s so easy for people to diminish panic angst to something trivial and not worth to be taken seriously, but at the end of the day, it’s damn serious when it destroys basal needs and just things that makes u survive. On the 27/9 I went out clubbing with a male friend. Such a mistake in retrospect. All stress I had been building up inside and the fact that my basal needs weren’t satisfied ended in a big chaos. I don’t remember much. Just that I couldn’t breathe inside the club, I started to shake, shiver and cry. Uncontrolled cramps. Had to run out and after that my memory is very very fuzzy.

I hate to get panic attacks out in public, in the comfort of my own home it’s okay, I know what to do, out in public it’s tricky. I just wanna function like any other human being, be able to have fun, go out, drink, laugh, dance. Without any drama and shit. Not to be able to control my body makes me feel like a freak, a less of a human being. And my body is behaving exactly the same way it did when this shit was at its peak back in 2005-2006. It’s so hard cuz it feels like a huge setback, like it never ever gonna end. So after some consultation with my psychologist and coach I had to flee the field for a while, Now after some days in Uddevalla with my best friend and her kiddo, with some nights of proper sleep and regular meals I feel a bit better. Not well, my body still doesn’t work along with me, but better.

Well, on a lighter note, while I’ve been m.i.a. some nyce shit has dropped. Or "some" is not the right term, A LOT is more correct. First up, DJ UNK’s brand new fresh video for the new single Show Out and it features cameos from many familiar faces:

Here’s a more crunked out remix of the track signed Lil’ Prince and Scottie B-treat of In Yo Face. DJ UNK’s upcoming album "2nd Season" will drop the 4th of November.
