WHOA! The Georgia Gurlz is an all-star, crunked up all-female hip-hop five some hailing from the south's music Mecca, Atlanta, GA consisting of Killa B, Holliwood, Paradise, Jolly Mac and Big Manda and I’m in LOVE! Honestly, I lubricate for things like this, my stone cold hearts melts to like ice cream, and this all thanks to Princess of Crime Mob, she was one of the reasons this came true, the collaboration with her resulted in an underground smash hit entitled GA Gurl, and the success of that led to the creation of the group.
They recently appeared on Jaywreck’s (= Lil Jay, Princess of Crime Mob’s brother) massive mixtape called "G.R.I.T.S" (Girls Raised In The South) and the forthcoming release "Southern Gurl Soundtraxx" will be out soon. BOSS BITCHES!
I really liked Ya Boy’s adaptation of Crank Dat with his Aqua Man, the remix of Eve’s Tambourine and the remix with Amy Whinehouse on You Know I’m No Good from his latest mixtape "The Fix", otherwise that was sort of an disappointment for me, let’s hope the album "Holla At Ya Boy" will do better. At least the old single has a brand new fresh and good video;
It’s no longer 2004, it’s 2007 and when I saw the video for Circles that finally dropped yesterday, one thing popped in my head, is this the end of Crime Mob? Cuz Diamond and Princess OUTSHINES M.I.G and Cyco Black. In everything, they make 'em look like faded wallpaper flowers in comparison;
Perhaps Princess and Diamond saw this coming and cut their deals for the brand new mixtapes (as I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, Diamond’s "Bitch Musiq" and Princess "Class is in Session"). Either way, Crime Mob is jack shit without Princess and Diamond, nuff said, even if the DJ Scream shit is hella annoying on Diamond's mixtape.
I’m a girl, I’ve been called a Bitch like a million times. For me, Bitch is synonymous with the post-feminist terminology of the word, such as Being In Total Control Honey or Being In Total Control of Herself, the thing is if a guy calls me a bitch I usually laughs, like, was that supposed to be an insult, huh? This is the forth track from the "Bangers and Cash EP" and Benny Bianco’s and Spank Rock’s description of the word. Funniest part must be the rhyme in the end about the elevator balls.
That juke-mix of Soulja Boy’s Crank that, I’ve played it like crazy since it emerged on the streets of Internet some weeks ago. It’s from DJ Rashad's and Chi Boogie's new full track CD called "Juke Jams" on Benzi Entertainment and it’s out today on Turntable Lab. Absolutely loving it! 12 tracks, Watch My Feet, Beautiful Girls, Get It Shawty and of course Yo Hipz, Yo Thighs all juked out to the max.
I kooow, I’ve said that I’m not fond of heavy guitars nor the mix-craze for that matter, but I like this one done by Roxy Cottontail for Hellz Bellz mostly cuz she put the best track Peaches ever done, innit. AA XXX was long before Peaches ripped a Led Zepplin-t-shirt apart and put it into a girl boxer with a pocket for the strap-on. And once u get by the first two tracks everything’s nyce with gold like Roxanne Schanté and Lil’ Kim. I’m also looking forward to Roxy’s collaboration with Mapei, think that’s one gonna be big. MAKE U SWEAT!
Being at home in Hultsfred is nyce in many many ways but when you’ve been a week, you’re bored to hell cuz let’s face it, there’s n o t h i n g to do down here. This Crank Dat-mania is starting to get ridiculous but I can’t stop, the "Crank Dat"-mixtape is my savior for now and it’s sooooooo addictive. I mean, Crank Dat Yogibear, Crank Dat Urkel or the Crank Dat Spidaman with the Duffle Bag Boiz ft. Crank Squad;
What’s up with the product placing of Lacoste’s scent "Touch of Pink" in e v e r y single video? First in Lil Mama’s Tour Bus and now in this? ISN’T THAT SCENT VERY OLD? Well, Ashley Tisdale is another star in the breed of the Disney emporium, guess now that Britney made a fool of herself at the VMA’s Tisdale may be one of the heiress to the throne. Either way, He Said, She Said is the latest single from the re-release of the album "Headstrong". This tune is good, many on the album are not, it’s all to American girl next door-style to me, but it’s quite charming in Not Like That when Tisdale rap in the Gwen Stefani/Fergie-way: The type of chick that hits spots, in my flip-flops Listening to Hip-Hop, you feel me.
I like Cupid for several reasons, u know what u get, snappy-catchy-r'n'b, no strings attached. He’s just easy to like, he even got one eyed grannies post their replies and dance to Cupid Shuffle on YouTube and he has said: - I'm not stopping until I get the president to do the Shuffle. Quite cocky and yet so loveable.
Even if the best track of the album "Time For A Change" that dropped last week is Cupid Shuffle, I really like the catchy and popish song with B.O.B called 369 and the production on Spin The Bottle with Shorty da Kid is just to die for. Seriously. Despite that vocoder a'la T-Pain, well anyhow, learn the shuffle;
Spank Rock and Benny Bianco are back again with another banger from the "Bangers & Cash EP", and this time Amanda Blank fills in. You ain't nothin but a hoochie mama, hood rat, hoot rat, hoochie mama, and the artwork, mocking around with pandas always make my heart go boom, pure luv. Get get get loose now, it's friday.
Many haters main focus regarding Soulja Boy is that he’s lacking in material, but hey, plain wrong. This soft, calm and sensitive collaboration with the group I-15 proves otherwise, it proves that Soulja got more than bathing apes and that Yuaaaah-sound up his sleeve.
I-15 is named after the interstate that connects Las Vegas to LA and consists of 3 guys; Flash, Das and Castro who simply made their way into music by singing for girls at school. Now they're teaching how to be a Soulja Girl.
Speaking of the Hurricane down below, have u grown tired of Soulja Boy’s Crank Dat Superman yet? Well, superheroes seem to be on the rise, V.I.C and Hurricane Chris sweeps in with another one on the theme, the Batman.
Stephen Goldsboro, also called Young Steff is a new up and coming dude with a Chris Brownish-look and a smooth voice to go with it, perfectly suited for soft and middle fast r'n'b. By the age of 8 he travelled around with his father’s gospel group, when he was 12 he and Lil Bow Wow had a hit with Can I Holla, and now, several years later and far away from church he has teamed up with Hurricane Chris on this. Hawt hawt hawt !
Even if the name Booty Luv sounds like a horrific soft corn flick on cable around midnight, it’s so cheesy and sleazy it’s an absolute genius name. Booty Luv are Nadia Shepherd and Cherise Roberts, you might know them as the former front women of chart-topping hip-pop act Big Brovaz. Their absolute funky fresh house album called "Boogie 2Nite" features many brand new original Booty Luv songs, all written or co-written by the dynamic duo, one of my faves is surely this one;
I’m home in Hultsfred at my parents for a retreat this week, just needed a break from everything, I’m so stressed out that I don’t function the way I should. On top of that I’m running a high fever and this, the first official Boy Better Know national release, was just exactly what I needed, a pure energy injection.
Well, what can I say, been waiting for Skepta’s debut album for soooo---oooh long and now when it's finally here, I can honestley say it was worth the wait. Even if some tracks are old like Doin It Again (Duppy) and Single which has been one of my fave tracks for some years now, "Greatest Hits" feels fresh, well balanced and every track is actually hit material. In A Corner is completely mental, thank you Skepatron, ZOOP ZOOP! Buy this, you won’t regret it.
Bit By Bit is released today and it's the first single from Akala's new album "Freedom Lasso" due to be out the 1st of October. I really like, esp. the dancy remix by Baxter.
Hell Rell’s first studio album "For the Hell of It" will drop the 25th, until then, enjoy the first single. Show Off is produced by Danja and I Ain't Playin' Wit 'Em by Dame Grease. Dip Dip!
WHOA! This has _EVERTHING_, simply a track of pure perfection!
First, the super cute adaption of the legendary 2 Live Crew cover. Second, the interpretation of Daphne and Celeste’s good old U.G.L.Y -track and cheer from Bring It On. And third, one word; BOOTY!
Can’t wait for the Bangers & Cash EP to drop. Let me see yo B.O.O.T.A.Y girl!
I really really like Kat DeLuna, she made one of the biggest tunes of the summer of 2007 with Whine Up. Her new single Am I Dreaming has a good production and the Africanish Oh We Oh Wah -part is refreshing, but otherwise it’s way to sugary sweet for me, feels like a clothing catalog model walking on the beach longing for her summer fling in her big cosy knitted cardigan. Why choose that when she has Run The Show with Shaka Dee up her sleeve?! I rather more enjoy this grimey remake of Whine Up made by Fiend of BIG City STHLM, it puts the song in a whole new fresh light.
I’ve got a policy not to write about shit, but this time I just can’t keep my mouth shut. What the fucks wrong with Kanye West? Did he lose his mind long down Pamela Anderson’s throat or something? I mean, come on, copycatting to the fullest, and the annoying AYY in Good Life sounds like a guttural noise from Fonzie in Happy Days. Like Kanye says in the clip above, the video for D.A.N.C.E is very good, guess he liked it so much he just HAD to do the same thing? Z_Z!
_070911: Bad Girl Lisa Maffia
Oh! I totally loved All Over when it came in 2003, and now it’s so nyce to see that the ex. So Soild member doing something else than always be referred to as the subject of the famous butt that Dizzee grabbed in Ayia Napa some years ago. With something else I mean this funky house tune produced by Dave Spoon and her new record label Maffia Recordz is also up and running, she’s signed rappers Young Spray, Chyna and C-One as part of a group called North Star. She has also signed grime mc Flirta D, and it would be nyce to hear something new from Flirts soon. Well, Lisa’s new album is expected to be released by the end of year or early 2008, filled with funky house and dirty pop.
There’s several rumors flourishing around T2 hailing from Leeds. One that he has been asked to work with Madonna, another signing with SonyBMG, and loads of more interesting stuff. One thing I do know for a fact is true, is that he has produced one of the biggest bassline tracks, ever, the T in the name comes from the movie Terminator and that he like the pose with a crooked neck on photos.
Nuff about T2, who’s the girl behind the super-catchy vocal of the smash hit Heartbroken has become? Well, it’s 18 year-old Jodie and I also know that u wanna dance to it, even if ur lovesick, heartbroken or have a heart of stone.
As I said before, them guitars in Snap and Roll, I'm not thrilled, the same goes for the Crank That Hand of Blood -mash up remix with My Bloody Valentine. I can’t understand the stupid decision to make an whole album with 'em, it’s jus like the Linkin’ Park vs. Jay-Z thing all over again, and I hoped that the era of rap-rock was over, for good. BUT as I also requested in that post mentioned above, Shootout is actually the next single along with Snap and Roll, but with the name Let Me Get ‘Em instead. Well, watch the freshly baked video and learn the dance;
BONUS: Dwizz actually gets the Crank Dat even hotter, BANG IT IN YA EAR!!!
Missed this in my last post. Sry… Well, Paper Planes is one of my fave tracks of "Kala" and this remix from Donnis as well. Look at the video of making the song, Dips and Maya looks like the item of the year but they’re not 2gheter anymore, am I right? Well, I don't do gossip, I'm more interested in the music.
Holla! It’s my b-day 2 day, I’m hitting the big 26. Actually, I’m not hitting anything right now; I’m ill, gastric catarrh, so I drink loads of thighs rich on vitamin-C, lying in my bed and waiting for the MTV VMA to start. Hope Justice snatches the award for best video right in front of Kanye’s nose, but he probably won’t see anything behind his big shadez. Right now I’m just wondering what the hell has happened to Nelly Furtado’s hair and what Lil Mama’s designer is on…
Probably we will see this guy hitting the screens of MTV soon. Donnis, nah not Döner or Dennis the Menace, it’s Donnis, a guy from ATL/Tokyo. Not only that he sports Bapes and clearly have a good pof, he does good music and has a scene of humor and good perspective of things. His mission is set to be: To boost the self-esteem of young ladies through music, fashion, and sexual activity. It's the Space Club way. I clearly fell for it, and so will u.
I’d never in a million years thought I would do a post about Britney, but oh boy I didn’t see this coming. Dunno what’s happen to her all of a sudden, guess not wearing panties, parties and not applying for the mother of the year award done her well. Gimme More is actually good just on its own but the remixes bring a little more, oumf? U probably already heard the street version with T.I. This one’s composed by DJ D!iamond and features a contribution from Pitbull’s Lengua Afuera (Ay Chico). It’s _exaclty_ how I wanted a remix of the track, with a loop containing It’s Britney Bitch!
September is also known as back 2 school-month and I’m quite happy I’m no longer at Uni. Speaking of that, this is from a one off PC CD ROM and was part of JME's Uni work and it also contained a short animated video for the tune.
Personally I think it’s kinda noobish to spell things backwards but I’m guessing that Papoose like the way he roll on his upcoming debut major album, "The Nacirema Dream", dropping later this year. My fave word play is anagrams, u know, words that become new words but with the same set of letters. Anyhoe, good production by Scott Storch, nyce to see him doing something else than the old beef with Timbo and of course, the topic of the song, caps, what can go wrong with that?
I have never been a fan of Wacko Jacko, when he was THE thing I listened to corny things like Belinda Carlise, but anyway I like this new from Teddy and Tony. The production is signed Calvin Harris.
